Personally I think that we need a centre half, creative midfielder and a striker and maybe a winger and pssibly another keeper. Thoughts please
One word - patience. If you were at the game you would know that we were by far the better team and at 1-1 it was so one-sided it was embarrassing before Gulacsi flaps and changes the whole dynamic of the game. I appreciate how odd it is to say this after we lost 4-1 but it says it all that most fans clapped us off the pitch but if we had gone in 1-1 I literally have zero doubt we wouldve won the game. I tell you what, McClean didnt half play well when he came on. His best performance in a City shirt for me.
This definitely. We need another centre half for cover, and a bit more luck, that's it. We conceded that freekick at the worst time; it ways a dive and it killed the game. That won.t happen most weeks and most keepers won't make the saves Lonergan did tonight. Chins up.
We aren't going to get all these 'needs' in though are we? we've already assembled our squad, we'll add 1 or 2 more tops unless we stumble across a pot of gold. Pearson has spent enough money and he'll have to fall on his own sword if it doesn't work out.
Doesn't matter how well we played--if we played well all season-yet lost most would all be happy,I doubt it---its results that count---see the headlines tomorrow following this defeat
It is the first time in quite a while that we have had a Goalkeeper problem, Myhill was always a safe bet for us. Maybe the young kid just had a nervous night, but he didn't fill the back four with confidence, which I think led to some of the poorer performances in our defence. Not sure whether i'd stick with him on Saturday or not, i'm sure NP will make the right decision though. I'm afraid to say that Dawson can't really keep up any more, and Dudgeon should stick to RB. I could see what NP was trying to do, maybe putting Dudgeon in the role which he hopes that Cameron Stewart will fill, but it just didn't work. As for our CB pairing, I feel like we perhaps need someone with a bit more experience in there. Turner was great, but he had the wise old head of Wayne Brown to guide him, it was a great partnership. Two young Centre Backs maybe doesn't quite work, especially with a young goalkeeper. We need somebody with experience at the back. Brady can, and will, win us games. He sometimes holds on to the ball a little too long, but he will learn when to pass. We could do with our players looking for him out in space on the wing more often, if they work on hitting some decent long balls, he could terrorise teams. McLean looked good when he came on, i'd start with him and Fryatt up front on Saturday. On Saturday, i'd go for: Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dudgeon Brady---Cairney-Evans----Devitt ------Fryatt--------McLean----
Pearson's replaced the full team, having all these "needs" would surely suggest that he hasn't done a very good job at it? The main need is a new manager, right now I'd take anyone. Except Dowie.
But after what you've said about the defence - you'd drop both of our experienced midfielders? Individually all four of those are great - but I think we need either Koren or McKenna in there. The eldest is Evans at 21...
I agree with these sentiments - the difference was the goalies. We let in our often usual goal just before half time. the 3rd one was the killer the free kick being only 12 seconds into the half. We bossed large parts of the game without scoring. Best I've seen McLean play.
I was thinking that as I posted it. However, we don't really have anybody that we can put in. I feel that Koren offers very little, he drifts out of games for long periods and although he might come up with something special once every two or three games, I don't think that is enough to warrant a place in the team. I'm not too sure about McKenna. I liked him in pre-season, and I do like that he is very vocal on the pitch, but in games I haven't really seen too much of him. I suppose we might just need somebody to do that job of collecting the ball and doing the unglamorous aspects of the game. It is the defence where I am mainly worried about experience, we shouldn't have been going for Ayala, we need a "Wayne Brown". I don't mean to come across as negative though, this team is capable of a comfortable mid-table finish, but I think we need a couple of additions to make that extra push.
We have Stewart to come back, midfield and down the wing we are fine. Central defence we could do with an old experienced head in there and the goalkeeping position needs looking at of Gulasci keeps looking like a rabbit stuck in the headlights. The manager however should stay put for now, 24 hours ago everyone was feeling good after Saturday's win and we've seen what this division is all about tonight.
