Meyler is very underrated. I'm sure there are stats that show our win ratio was insanely higher with him in the side. He's not fancy, but he moves forward and chips in with goals, however he scores them.
I've never rated Meyler at PL level, I don't buy into the "you need grit and determination and that's it" mentality; you need both that and quality to make it in the PL, just look at Clucas. In the Championship however, on a Tuesday night in Burton, he's exactly what you need.
I think I agree. But we had our greatest success in the PL when the squad was full of hard-working gritty players (Quinn, McShane, Bruce, Rosenior etc)
Disappointing to lose Maloney, after we thought we'd got him back. More so because it's another squad place to fill. Our friendlies will have to be 5 a side at this rate.
Tell you what, I'd much rather have George Boyd back, I don't think he's signed a new deal at Burnely
I'd have Boyd. But at the moment we don't have Boyd or Maloney. We desperately need a tricky player. What's Hoolahan up to these days?
And yet the team performed better when he was on the pitch than just about any other player except Hernandez.
If you say so.... All I would say is that he was on £20k a week in the States and to come to us in the Championship he must have been on something similar. Personally, I would expect someone to be the mainstay in the team for that sort of money. He only made 8 starts for us that year and just a mere 2 last year.
