All right lads and lasses. Let's stop messing. We've been so mean. Let's tell Liverpool they can have Virgil on a free, and that we'll concede both league games to them for the next ten seasons. If in that time we are drawn against them in any cup we will withdraw from the competition. We may consider throwing in any member of our first team they fancy, our academy, Les Reed and our recruitment staff if they ask nicely, and sit up with their arms folded.

Would their prattish fans and ex-player pundits then **** off and stop reinforcing the whinging scouser stereotype?

    Sounds fair.

I'm willing to throw in the chap who sits behind me at home games continually moaning about everything if Liverpool consider our deal to be a few pence short

Clearly the next step is for a group of Liverpool fans/players/ex-players to release a charity single entitled "Free (ee) Virgil Van Dijk", to the same tune as "Free (ee) Nelson Mandela". This will result in an international outcry about why Southampton have been allowed to keep this player in solitary confinement in the cell at St Marys, where he has been throwing a baseball against a wall, breeding budgerigars and crossing off the days until the mob storm St Marys to relase him ( to mix several film allusions) :):)

Unless there isn't sufficient evidence then that is disgraceful. As others have said if it was us that had done the tapping up then we would be in the ****. Absolutely farcical. And people say there is no big club bias....

There is a suggestion that Saints may have evidence that they have not provided as they are happy with Liverpool's response. In which case, the EPL probably see no point in further investigation without pressure from SFC....entirely possible that Liverpool have had a warning that is not in the public arena. And I doubt Saints want an out and out war....Liverpool's embarrassing apology has obviously soothed our ruffled feathers.

It was a public event for Saints to complain to shown our fans what big balls of steel the Board has.

And also less significantly to push up his transfer fee to said Liverpool, not that had any impact on our withholding of evidence...

Feels to me like its us that are stopping the premier league taking this further.

We are holding back the evidence while keeping the case open to say to Liverpool we will release the evidence if you approach any of our players without our consent, especially VvD

You cant threaten somebody with a bullet you've already fired, and we only have one bullet.

I agree. It sounds like we have accepted Liverpool's action after we raised the matter but have warned them that the evidence we have might be used if they don't back off. Sky said their sources say action would only be taken forward if more evidence arose. Sounds like we have it but are willing to let Liverpool off as long as they behave.

I wonder how far Saints could push this? Could we try to buy a player that Liverpool have already bid for, by offering a lower price, and suggesting to Liverpool that they might want to withdraw their bid, otherwise we might have to provide the evidence, because we know 'where the bodies are buried'.

Alternatively, we could suggest to Liverpool that we have one or two players that we want to get off our books, and Liverpool might want to buy them at inflated prices - Hush money, by another name. I'm sure that there's Mafia-based mini series in this :):)

Must still be something we have to make Liverpool offer a Public apology like they did...

I hope they keep a squad number free for him. I hope they ship Sakho out (for 30M...yeah right), I hope they enter the last few days of the market in pure panic & cock it right up.
I want to see Klopp & co struggle. <bubbly>
