https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/everton-set-to-complete-signing-of-highly-rated-midfielder/ I have to say...if we do get >£3million for Bowler, surely this has got to be good. He was released by Fulham, he has only played a few minutes 1st team minutes. There is a huge attrition rate in going from youth to 1st team play, especially in the physical championship (eg Goss, who will come good, but it will take time) Seriously the risk of waiting to get more than £3.5 million is really not worth it..is it? Comments?
I tend to agree, especially if we can get a small sell-on clause as insurance. I guess there's a good chance they'd loan him out too so you'd think we'd be first in line. When you look at guys like Lookman and Calvert-Lewin, you wonder what they seen in him.
I think it's a positive move. Profit for the club is exactly that. Will he break in to Everton's team? Unlikely, so £3.5 million is a good fee for us, and it promotes the fact we've got some talent coming out of our ranks. The reality is, we want to develop or sign players and sell them on for big profits so we can strengthen our financial position.
Beth - I agree with you. Hopefully there are add-on's and a sell on clause. It is good sound business for a player who has not yet played us. The key now is to "invest" this money wisely on a "good" player that will "perform" for us this forthcoming season. If we achieve this, then then we will have won twice. Even three times if this new player will increase in value. We have to accept that currently this is the business model that we need to operate in. The good news is that we have started to produce good young talent with potential.
Very impressed by Bournemouth. They have a good settled squad already, and now they have gone and strengthened it with Defoe, Begovic and Ake. They are running the club in an absolute perfect way. Wish we could have gone by our business the same way when we had the chance
They have done everything the right way. Good young manager that understands football and the passing game. A team of players that gel well and can also pass. And a chairman that understands the game of football. We have the opposite.
I wonder if we will ever get the chance again. What a missed opportunity. What we could have done if the money was better invested rather than squandered and ending up in the pockets of a conveyor belt of mercenaries.
Whilst I agree with you, I would say that they were briefly in the relegation battle last season and had they gone down they would have been in trouble as they have actually spent quite a bit the last few years.
Tommie Hoban, a centreback from Watford on loan appears to be our top target. No, I've never heard of him either. He was on loan at Blackburn last season...
