I suppose I WAS a fan. In the past a defeat would send me spiralling into a foul mouthed irrational tirade spoilt brat. Sleepless nights, arguments with town supporters etc. Even when I first started out on this forum, after another Sunderland blow, I would type out some right childish rubbish, something that days later, after I calmed down, I was embarrassed with. Now I just laugh it off. Your post has made me realise that I'm not a FAN anymore. More of a follower than a fan. And to be honest I prefer it that way, it hurts a lot less.

Anyone who calls himself a "fan" is one in my opinion, its a daft word anyway, we are all supporters really with different levels of commitment and vastly different outlooksl, its what makes it so addictive. Long may it continue.
