Now back to football, well done Alfie boy on starting the first game in the u21's Euro Tournament. Just rewards for the fantastic season you have had and the massive progress you have made. Do the Swans proud young man.
Mawson has just scored for England U23's. That should put £5,000,000.00 on his value. I can see Huw's Cheshire cat grin from here.
I thought Mawson was suspended for the semi with Germany for a second booking, obviously for a change I was totally wrong, he has started and England should be 3 up already. Saw this as well, a confident young man. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfie-mawson-want-captain-england-13243777
I just saw the stats from that game: Germany had more than double the possession, more than double the shots, more than double the shots on target, more than triple the corners. England conceded more fouls than Germany. Sounds very one sided to me.
England can be very proud of themselves especially Mawson and our new loan Abraham who contributed with their play and goals. Mawson done a good job as Captain too and depending how long he commits to us could be a future captain. We need a more experienced player as captain at the present time.....With Leon's year extension then he will have no better player to learn off as he enters his well earned coaching experience and if he does well im sure he will get a much longer contract...
I was listening to the radio commentary and Mawson was apparently shouting and bawling at certain players and even took the team talk prior to the penalties. The commentator said that Ward-Prowse was, in fact, the captain, but he was just standing there watching Mawson give a team talk. Mawson certainly seems to possess leadership qualities, and I can see him in the role for both Club, and country.
Tried and tried and tried to get a price for Alfie to be future captain, full cap,of England but not available.
He is one for the future, but he is a bit green under the gills to be a captain at the moment, He still has a lot to learn yet as he still gives the ball away under pressure. He has great potential though and that's why other clubs are noticing the youngster...If he wants to make a name for himself then he will be better off staying with us and having more game time than joining a big club and playing in the reserves or even their U23 team....He may have £ signs flashing his eyes but he only has to look what happened to Sinclair and Bony at Man city to see where you end up..
He reminds me a lot of Ash when he first came here. Was solid enough but was prone to the odd costly mistake. Then Ash developed over time by playing consistently and became one of the best defenders in the prem. Hopefully Mawson follows suit and we get another good 8 years out of him.
I think he would be stupid to move now, still has a lot to learn and has the potential to be an England captain. But, he wont do that sitting on the bench somewhere and not playing football and improving, which is what he will do here under PC and CM.
