I was in Filey the other weekend and after reading up, opted for The Brown Room. Bloody good it where and a frigging hot day too so sat outside. They need to ask if you want skin though. Fortunately I saw it before I ordered. Wouldn't even feed fish skin to the kids.
Interesting. Will deffo bear that in mind. I am planning to go as I've actually not been yet either, something has always put me off. Think their constant publicity drive and massive premises don't help. Give me a chippy that wraps in paper and not them daft little boxes, whose publicity is pure word of mouth and is always inevitably closed when I want to visit.
The Catch, best chippy in West Hull villages. I'll raise the crapness level with your preferred Johnny Haddocks
Eleven of the family went to Papas on Saturday afternoon. We ate outside as we had a dog with us. I had large haddock, two patties and a pint of Peroni from the restaurant bar. Delicious They may have been having a good day, but I couldn't fault the food at this visit.
I've been twice and thought it was good on both occasions. Maybe it's too mainstream for some. Not alternative enough.
Just nice food would be a good start. It's what they do if you believe the hype. Came to the area with the bold statement that nobody could do Fish and Chips better. Even the Chinese in South Cave which does truly horrific fish and chips could probably have bettered the effort by Papas.
Went to Papas in Bilton, it was very good. Especially the grilled salmon. Lady B was impressed with her battered haddock. Chips were ok too.
