We've already laughed at Utd's tabloid bid of £100 mill. He's going nowhere. All clubs are going to have problems with the sinking pound. Many existing contracts are already in Euros, and you can bet that no new foreign player or player signing a new contract is gonna agree to being paid in sterling.
That's what I mean about 'for now'. Which is why it's so important that Spurs maintain and improve on their relatively successful couple of seasons. Kane I can see staying for a couple more seasons at least, Alli and some others I'm not so convinced about. I think you potentially have a big issue coming up with your wage structure, which up until now has been one of your strengths. But players who play regular CL football will want to be paid accordingly. It's interesting that you bring up the £350k per week for Ozil and Sanchez. (Although I think the figures are more like £250k-£280k) as that's what the going rate for top quality player is these days.
I don't think Utd have made any bid. That's just paper talk at the moment, but if they did come in with a £100m offer, Levy would listen. Every player has his price. As for Sterling, that's another issue. I'm not sure that depreciation will have that much of an effect, although it will be on the minds of players who transfer money back to their homelands in another currency. I would have thought that the high tax on earnings would be a bigger issue. Hence why so many players have been happy to play in spain, where there's a top quality league and a lot of corruption in terms of tax avoidance ..... until now
£100 mill is laughable in the context of today's prices for the very best. If an unproven kid of 18 is being bid at a reported £120 mill+, then a 23 yr old proven top striker is going to command far more. I think sterling is a big issue for any foreign player. It's future looks bleak and most of these guys will return home eventually. With Brexit, they may not have a choice either!

No way. Wenger would have pissed a little in his pants when he heard those rumours! There are not many teams that can afford to pay £300k per week to every player. The idea that Kane and Alli are going to walk into £300 per week contracts at this stage of their career is stupid paper talk, but I am not surprised that this is the line of wum-attack that the likes of Pixie is taking. It fits with his scratch 'n' sniff knowledge of footy. Are there teams out there who can afford to pay Kane and Alli better wages than Spurs' best offer? Yes, of course there are. Will the differential between what Spurs will end up paying and what they might get at another club be so great that either player is going to be prepared to act like a twat by threatening to go on strike? No, I am 100% confident that it isn't. I expect both players to continue acting exactly how they have been, namely very maturely, level-headed and with great professionalism. Will either player demonstrate the loyalty of Ledley King, Steve Perryman, or Glenn Hoddle, and give Spurs their best years? Why not? I suspect that Kane will stay with us longer than Alli, but I expect both players to be around for a while. That is certainly what they have both been saying.

How do you think Spurs will balance the books over the next few years, with paying for a new stadium, adding depth to the squad and paying players on a par with those at the top level in the game ? If you don't think you'll try and match these wages, do you think those players will stay simply out of loyalty to spurs ?
