I wouldn't know, I've got no idea what he's saying.

He scored 4 goals at Euro 2004 as an 18 year old (at the tournament Steven Gerrard called him the best player in Europe on current form) . At this point he'd already scored 15 Premier League goals too.

The hype around him was very real and deserved.

That's good for you then innit.

I remember Bale 'won't be leaving Spurs' either, cos his bird was up the duff and settled and he's a family man. Somehow your fans find a way to deny the inevitable every time. We'll see.

Wow, he played well at 1 tournament. Salvatore Schillaci was top scorer at the 1990 World Cup. Did he even come close to repeating that feat? Who cares what Gerrard thinks? He's not the judge and jury on all matters football.

We're talking about being marketable. Where did I say that Kane would never leave Spurs? You seem to be moving the goalposts at your convenience here.

  10. One of the reported issues with Bale is that he wanted to play CL footy, and gave Spurs that one extra season to see if we could make the grade again. We didn't, and he was allowed to leave the club.

Since then, Spurs have moved on in leaps and bounds. We are a completely different proposition to what we were when we were struggling to keep a player of Bale's World class calibre satisfied.

There are never any guarantees, at any time, in life; but have more about them at this point in time than at any other time in their Prem history, so there is a greater chance that we'll keep our top players.

You were actually just making a comment about a picture which was nothing to do with commerce.

    Keep up at the back.

I agree, but other clubs have moved on at a similar or even faster rate than you, especially financially.

If you deliver regular success on the pitch, with actual trophies, and compete with the biggest clubs in terms of wages, then you'll give players no reason to leave ever.

  13. The fact of the matter is that Spurs have become dangerous.

It used to be the case that we were mocked for trying, and failing, to break into the top 4.

Well, not only have we done that, but have - in two successive seasons - actually competed for the title. Pundits, now, expect us to finish in the top 4. We have become top 4 regulars.

Now, we are no longer mocked, we are feared.

Fans like Tel and Akky - with their simplified grasp of footy matters - need to believe that Spurs will be dismantled by "the bigger boys," because the consequences of that not happening are far too horrifying for them to contemplate.

Their comments are not so much predictions as expression of their fervent wishes.

Not horrifying at all, I'd much rather Spurs won the league than Liverpool, City, Arsenal or Chelsea. The fact is, you don't win trophies like the top clubs do consistently and while that little trend continues, you'll be alsorans, regardless of how close you come.

You're absolutely no different to Newcastle back in the 90's when they had a good go, until you change that, don't expect to be treated any differently.

The similarities are uncanny when you consider Shearer and Kane, bottling it every season.

You competed for the title in the sense that you were in the PL. Ultimately you finished ten points behind Leicester one season and seven points behind Chelsea the next. How long were you top of the table in both seasons combined?

Well, perhaps there's the badge to consider too. The elite status. Nobody can argue that Real are the most successful and elite football club, some players will dream of playing for them too, it's hard to change that, but the other things I mentioned are definitely easier to achieve.

If you genuinely believe that you can offer everything already for a sustainable period of success then great, it's just an opinion innit.

    WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

... they finished 11 points behind us (Arsenal finished 10 points behind) <laugh>

That aside... what the fcuk is Quentin blubbing about ... does he really think that United, City and Chelsea wiill fear Spurs more than they will be fearing each other? <doh>

Spurs should contest top 4 with the squad they have ... but realistically they are more likely to be battling for the 4th spot with Liverpool and Arsenal ... <ok>

  19. Wow!

This post is a classic example of a rant wrought by envy and fear.

... which merely demonstrates how silly you are ... comment to Stan was obviously in jest ... as anyone but you would have known <doh>

... as for the rest of it ... just being realistic ... those 3 teams will spend the most money this transfer window and will see each other as the main competition as the season kicks off ..

PS the only real example of envy I've seen on this forum was from you during tthe seasom that we won the title and you blew your likely best chance of winning it for another 50 years ... was seeping out of your every pore, Quentin <laugh>
