Saint Mauricio!

  1. Don't fall for those old clichés, Libby!

What "family silver" has Levy sold in recent years?

If you are referring to Bale and Modric, both of those players expressed an desire to move to Real, and Levy reluctantly sold them both, for bumper fees.

You have to go back 9 years beyond that, to when Levy sold Berbatov to United, again, for a bumper fee, and (in that case) with the player threatening to go on strike.

    That's it!

If there is any case to be made, at all, for Spurs, it is that we do not sell our best players.

All I keep reading is Walker wants out, Alderweireld wants more money, Dier wants to leave, Rose is looking for a move.
Wanyama is not one for contract extensions.

Expect if Eriksen, Kane or Alli have another good season then the big boys will up the interest. Cracks are starting to appear.

Unless they win the league, of course! I do wonder whether not playing at WHL will have an effect. Our start at SMS was indifferent, to say the least, and it was at least our ground. Spurs are sofa-surfing next season. Will be interesting. I like Poch, and the football he has Spurs playing, so I don't wish them ill at all. But I'll be looking for those cracks now, saintly, to see if this post is prophetic or pathetic!

Spurs have had a brilliant couple of years. Wembley will set that straight.

  8. So, you believe that Levy is going to permit our entire team to be decimated?

    Based on what, exactly?

Don't give me the old bollocks that you are reading in the tabloids.

Give me examples of how, in the past, Levy has permitted our entire team to be sold... and to whom, exactly?

    I'll save you the trouble...

    It has never happened.

Levy would never want to sell the core of your team but, as us saints fans have found out, sometimes you can't stop it. When the likes of Liverpool and you come in for a saints player we can only delay the inevitable as you can offer more money and more chance of success.

So when/if the likes of Madrid, Barca and to a lesser extent Man City and United come in for your players; Levy may well not have a choice. You simply can't offer the same wages as those 4, especially with the money going towards your stadium, and the Spanish sides have a much better shot at European glory than you'll ever have. You can reject offers but you can't keep them forever, so when the big money and clubs come in they'll be off eventually (Gareth Bale).

  11. Name the last top Spurs player that Levy sold to a Prem rival?

I'll save you the trouble. It was Berbatov to United, more than 9 years ago.

Even then, Levy only sold him because Berbatov threatened to go on strike, and United were prepared to pay a record-breaking £30 million + for the sulky twat.

Spurs was in a very different place than it is, today. Levy couldn't afford to let that kind of money go, and us be left with a player sat in the reserves. We are a very different club, today.

The last Spurs player who tried to force a move to a Prem rival was Modric (to Chelsea), and Levvy point-blank refused to sanction it, getting Modric to play another season with us, before being sold (at a lower price than Chelsea offered) to Real.

Modric only went to Real because Levy wouldn't sell to a Prem rival.

So, the idea that Levy is going to let either City or United waltz and take our players stands on a precedent that is now more than 9 years old.

Sure, but is the differential between what Spurs is likely to end up paying the likes of Kane and Alli, and what those two players could realistically demand from that very small handful of clubs that can afford to pay them more, going to be so great as to encourage the players to go on strike and act unprofessionally? No, in my opinion; and I base that on a number of factors, not least the fact that both those players are extremely level-headed and have acted with great professionalism.

I do not see either Kane or Alli leaving Spurs any time soon.

We are only a couple of decent signings away from winning the Prem. I think our best players know that.

well exactly and if Spurs win the Premiership next season the chances of you keeping Kane and Alli are zero. Enjoy it while you can!

    Wow what a rant <laugh>

This hasn't gone as well as you planned has it mate?

Fair play for trotting out the last time you sold to a PL rival one though, probably only a few weeks left of that one so make the most while you can <ok>

Levy won't pay super duper wages, so I expect to hear some rumblings of discontent in the coming weeks.

These big fancy stadiums don't pay for themselves.
I don't think Levy will decimate the squad. More a slow painful death. Like picking the legs off a spider

That's right. The Spurs board is pumping £millions into the club, via our new Academy, training ground, and stadium, not to compete with Europe's elite, but to die a slow death!

My god! There are some muppets on this site!

We reserve the right to blindly follow our supporter doctrines and belief systems to the exclusion of all new information and evidence to the contrary. All evidence that contradicts our belief systems will be acknowledged but instantly forgotten. Or in some cases not even acknowledged.

We do however tend to contain our opinions within our bubble and not stumble blindly about in other peoples bubbles blabbing on about our different beliefs and derailing conversations about new managers.

  20. WTF?

Go back and look at my first comment on this thread.

This thread was derailed by bitter Saints fans, jealous by Spurs' new found success.

All I wanted to do was to congratulate Saints on getting a decent young manager. Too bad you have juveniles on this board who cannot debate without dragging their prejudices into the discussion. This thread has been derailed by your own special breed of muppet.

Sorry to burst that little bubble.
