I'd add another ten on to that personally. But if there is truth in it and working under the assumption that Virgil & Ryan go then I think we'll treat it like the Morgan situation. So telling him we simply can't afford to let him go as well this Summer but can go next year if valuation met etc.
You mentioned earlier that we're waiting for someone to match our valuation for Virgil, do you know roughly what the club have set that at?
Not with your Spurs "love-in." PS You can have my Spurs shirt because I have a shiny white Real Madrid top!! Supporting a winning team until they turn cr**.
Ok, so we are entering the last few weeks of June. Over the next few weeks I'm going to watch the same thing happen has happened over the last four seasons. These things will happen*: Saints will likely sell a key first team player - fans will go ape That player will go for less than some think he should - fans will go ape Other teams will be linked to or sign players with huge transfer fees - fans will go ape We won't sign a "house-hold" name - fans will go ape We will sign some relative unknowns that we've been tracking through our scouting network and our fans will be underwhelmed. Players like Siggy will not be signed by Saints, even though fans think it's obvious he is what we want - fans will go ape We won't spend anywhere near the amount of money fans think we should - fans will go ape I'll use the word "moan" a lot in posts and be told people aren't moaning they are just saying their view I'll disagree with someone and post a counter argument and then be told that no-one's ever allowed to say anything different on here We won't win 3 of our first 4 games as the manager gets used to things and a new league - fans will go ape We will sign at least two players less than people think we should - fans will go ape People will complain about the manager when we are 10th-16th in October The silly season is here folks. Put your seat belts on * If under same ownership.
And if under new ownership we'll see the words 'asset strip' a lot... Oh and you forgot to add that I'll probably get pissed at some point and call someone a ****
No idea. I would say the £70m Wilson says is about right. Van Dijk still isn't a happy guy. Why I wouldn't mind Chelsea bidding £45m - £50m and Christensen.
Think of a single number and add seven zeros. It was only 38 years ago when we had our first £1m player, now we are looking at someone going to over £100m this summer. I bet your wages haven't gone up by anything like that over the same period.
I bet your wages haven't gone up by anything like that over the same period. -------------------------------------------- You think! Even in my dreams I can't count that high!
Let's look at the 4th best team in Spain as a guiding light. They sign plenty of players that are not illuminati but have gained considerble success in the EL purchasing players within the price range of SFC, and have earned the right to compete in the CL again.
Athletic really doesn't sign much of anyone (in terms of senior players) given their self-imposed restrictions on playing staff. But, as much of a constraint as that is, they're also the preeminent team of a 3-million strong nation (not nation-state) that is utterly football mad, allowing them to draw from a pool far beyond the reach of most teams. I have nothing but respect for them, but the combination of those things makes it virtually impossible to follow.
It begs the question what has happened to all the Scottish talent that was until the last generation, like a conveyor belt of wonderful footballers.
Football has changed now. England played fast, never say die football in my youth...probably suited players trained in the Scottish leagues. The type of player required has changed now....has training in Scotland moved on or not?
Well, Palace have spent £30m on a player, whereas we haven't. Who knows what may happen this summer, though.
