Morgan accepted the position, but after he sort of got his way by throwing his toys out of the pram (ie being told he could leave in a year). Mane similar, was supposedly told he could leave in a year. I remember someone on here (Beefy maybe?) saying that Shaw wanted to go before he signed a pro deal, but was persuaded by Cortese to sign one, again on the promise that he could leave in a year but so we didn't get ****ed with a low fee from a tribunal. It may well be the case that VVD is given a similar deal to those three (stay for a season and then go), or it could be the case that last summer he wanted to go and was told then to stay (with a shiny new contract and pay rise) with some promises made. This is just speculation of course but as you have highlighted we do have previous. My point with the second sentence on my previous post (sorry I worded it badly) was that I do not think that every player who has left in a "bad" way is a terrible person with no respect and poor morals, it is just the way they had to act for the greater good of themselves and their family.
I bet I care less than you. I don't even know what he's supposed to have done/not done to upset everyone . He'll slot somewhere in the Lovren-Lambert scale of villainy and I'll just nod along.
The point with the first three is they seemed to behave ok. Morgan had one tweet and then a sit down meeting with the club. Soon sorted. I agree on your section about the possibility of VVD being told this last year and I mentioned that in another thread a while ago. However, that still doesn't excuse his behaviour. On that muddled sentence ( ), I find that sort of thing unacceptable. You don't just play up because you haven't got your way. It is poor behaviour and not how I see values of life. Maybe I'm different and a bit of a behaviour prude, but that's just me. Something about today's society I'm not keen on.
They behaved ok when they were told what they wanted to hear (ie they could leave, all be it a season later than they ideally wanted). I think this is something we won't see exactly eye to eye on and we will end up going round in circles but I find it hard to really judge players based on their actions in transfer situations as I feel their hand is somewhat forced. I agree that ideally it wouldn't be like this, but it is and I can't see it changing. I think the phrase "Don't hate the player, hate the game" sums up my thoughts pretty well
So, we shouldn't feel disappointed, we should just get on with it? I'm wondering why some of you bother at all, to become that ambivalent I'd just fall away from it all. Screw that, get angry, get happy, be passionate, say how you feel.
I should mention though to my knowledge none of those players signed an extended contract a few months before they wanted to leave. Sorry for me at least if a player signs an extended contract and excepts more money to do so he should at least honour the bigger part of that contract. As for players not wanting to come here if we got tough with one of them.......can't see it myself. For a young player wanting to play in the premier league there would be no better smaller club for him to start. Then just maybe we can jump to the heady heights of being in the top six and regular European football where the real money is for the club. Don't care what anyone says we will not progress if we do not start to hang on to our star players. Nothing anyone can say that will change my mind on that.
I get happy/angry/passionate over the actual games, not over who we sign/sell or how our players behave away from the pitch. I don't see them as heros and definitely not role models, so I am pretty ambivalent over the whole transfer side of things.
You're not allowed on here though as people get upset if you voice an opinion that slightly varies to there's...
Yeah of course. So you missed the afternoon of discussion between a few people with different opinions. No abuse, just people putting their view across and counter discussing it. Maybe it's allowed on a Saturday. Really silly comment sotonsaint
Maybe not today flt, but many times people have said something and gone on to get totally crucified purely because another individual didn't agree with what they said .
Indeed. The games themselves matter. Absolutely people should be portraying emotion over them (even if it does lead to one or two having regrets the following morning!). But in view, how a player acts in leaving doesn't matter. They've gone, that is what matters; how we cope, play, without them.
We are close to Jan Bednarek (CB) from Lech Poznan. Have submitted a bid that polish press expect to be accepted.
If anybody knows which prison CBK is currently sequestered in, can they let him know when we do sign someone?
