Are you saying it WAS the norm for middle-aged men to marry 7-year olds in 1400, or 1400 years ago, or up until 1400? Do you have any evidence for this?
Let's work on the premise of things that appear from nothing. A) a universe. B) a God. Science says that the universe came from nothing and puts a time frame on it. God however assuming he had exsisted since forever waited eons to manifest himself to Moses and Muhammad. Let's also assume that if religious types are correct that God made the universe which is in excess of 13 billion years old so the burning question on my lips is why did he wait 13 billion years to manifest himself to the prophets?
Christmas Day is based on the pagan festival of the the winter solstice. The best guesstimates for Jesus' birth are said to be September/October.
Also other gods were mysteriously born on December the 25th, Jesus, Horus, Allah, Bhuda plus around 20 others.
Presumably the financial year in Heaven runs from November to November, and they get a tax break for being born then. Either that or there must be some mass orgy up there on 25th March.
Watch my video I posted a few pages back, even if you hold a different belief it's good to see the similarities between all the religions.
Well, it was hard to ascertain what your actual point was in that mess of a sentence (or even if it was a question), but let's try again. It was in response to the point I made that you're shouted down as racist for stating that Mohammed married a 7-year old. Okay so far? You retorted with something about 1400 (years ago? The year 1400? Up until 1400?) and being the 'normal' in England. Still okay? So I'll politely ask again - what is your evidence for this?
It was fairly common practise in medieval Europe for girls to be betrothed as children. Marriage would typically take place from 12 years old (for girls, 14 for boys) , but dowrys were often paid and marriage terms agreed in infancy..
To be honest i would have to go long way back and it was probably hinduism of some sort, even when you look at that the message is monotheism and practice has turned to paganism over 1000's of years.
I already pointed that out. Think Isobella of France was betrothed to Edward II when she was five. They never married till she was 13 though. And nobody argues that 12, after puberty, was considered normal in the Middle Ages (and possibly some states in the US - didn't Gerry Lee Lewis marry his 14 year old cousin?). I just have no evidence nor have ever seen anything that it has ever been the 'norm' for a middle-aged man to consummate a marriage with a nine year old, even in Ancient Rome.
Generally considered to be @ 400 ad after the fall of the Roman Empire until @ 1500 ad and the Renaissance and Reformation.
To be fair mate before Muhammad muslims were worshipping stones/idols around 360 of them. My point is that paganism is the cornerstone of All religion therefore like Christianity it's kept elements of it.
