I know very, very little about him, but I am looking forward to his tenure and am optimistic (possibly naively) that it will be a success. I know some people have raised issues about his style of football, but after Puel I really cannot see Les and the board would have recruited someone who isn't looking to reinstall the excitement factor again. Now to back him in the transfer market, the most important thing of all.
So imagine if we were to lose VVD and Romeu and our leading goal scorer (whoever that was) then lose both our starting centre backs at Christmas without replacing them and have Gabiodini missing for 3/4 of the season. Given that, Pellegrino will have to finish top 6 and win a cup or risk getting the sack. Welcome and good luck!
Interesting read and encouraging for a Saints fan. I like the expression that you can see a Prince or a Frog in anything....we see that every week when fans apparently watch entirely different matches.
http://www.espn.co.uk/football/club...manager-mauricio-pellegrino-to-sort-out-first Article suggesting the 5 things that Mauricio (ooh, look. first name terms already ) needs to do...including regaining the dressing room and the fans. He's very lucky that he is not replacing a popular manager....he had us at hello.
talkSport getting stuck into us again for employing a foreign unknown again........obviously the Big Boys aren't doing anything exciting so time give little Saints another battering
So Arsenal,Chelsea,Man City,Man Utd,Liverpool,Everton,Spurs all have foreign mangers? and they give us stick? Thankfully I don't tune in to that channel.
What I find more surprising than TalkSPORT's attitude is to read that someone is listening ot TalkSPORT!
Idiots. You hire the best man for the job, regardless of nationality. In any other profession if you chose candidate A over candidate B because B was a foreigner you'd have a lawsuit on your hands! In football it is encouraged. It is different with players as there are rules that mean you need a certain number of homegrown players. Besides, we wanted Eddie Howe last year but he wasn't interested. Not exactly our fault.
Once upon a time a long time ago I tuned into Talk Sport Radio. I thought I had tuned into radio Merseyside by mistake and promptly retuned to five live. I have never been back.
It's becoming our trade mark. Not complaining though, losing players and managers who leave for better jobs is simply a credit to our recruitment process. In reality Puel was our re-incarnation of Pardew. Got us to Wembley which was great but that was not the primary objective
I would be very happy at a 2nd place finish. I'd be less happy though that Brighton finish above us as PL champions.
I'd be overjoyed with that if only to see the heads exploding of all the so called "neutral experts" and fans of the "big" teams
If we take a cup seriously and finish eighth, and along the way start get some identity football being played, then I'll be happy. If we bring through a couple youngsters & piss L'pool off, I'll be very pleased.
