Interesting to watch the two Frankel runners in the Chesham at Ascot (LEARN BY HEART and WESTERLAND) and the Listed Race at Ayr should be a walk in the park for QUEEN KINDLY who is dropping down in trip and class.
This time yesterday I would have 100% said Saturday is LIMATO Day After i backed him at 7/2 and it still is but am slightly worried as rain is forecasted tonight, I'm hoping if the ground is slightly agaisnt him they will pull him and if he runs he wins! But I can't see it raining that much to have a massive effect on the ground!
5.00 Ascot- DANZENO- 25/1 ew This horse has some serious form compared to a lot of the field has come third over c&d with only Muharaar and Twilight Son in front of Him that day and did have Magical Memory behind. In his peak was rated 113 and now runs off 104. Looks a very decent ew price with a chance of winning too
5.35 Ascot- THOMAS HOBSON- 11/4 Willie did the double with Simenon a few years ago and fully expect him to do the same! Altho Ryan not on board it seems very hard to see anything beating him he won with quite abit in hand on Tuesday we know he stays, he is class and just can't get away from him! ( one of the few times I haven't backed him watch US ARMY RANGER bolt up in this )
3:05 Royal Ascot - Scarlet Dragon 25/1 EW. Looked very good last year, been off a while so taking a leap of faith its ready for today and like a few others i've put up this week i just think the price is too big again with Paddys paying 4 places.
From Derby fav in 2016 to the lucky last at Royal Ascot in just over a year. Genius placement or desperation. We'll know by tea time tomorrow.
Really really boring but really can't see past some of the shorties September (nap) Khairaat Dartmouth Librisa Breeze Steady pace Thomas Hobson
September is maybe the most important horse running for Coolmore this week. Can't wait to see how she goes.
I backed the wrong Gosden horse in the Ribblesdale on Thursday. Hopefully I won't be doing that in the Hardwicke. Western Hymn (quirky, but still potentially a Gp 1 animal on his day) and Wings Of Desire (only beaten by the excellent Highland Reel at this meeting last year) both e/w. Muntahaa will probably win it now.
Muntahaa sound like an arabic version of "munter" - as in "Look at that bird in the white mini-skirt - complete munter"
Had a text from my mate at imperial, An Caisteal Nuadh 2.15 gowran park! Told him in November that they think he's a graded horse! Heavy fall LTO though and not much of a price but thought I'd pass it on
Had a decent day at Ascot yesterday. I won’t bore people with tales of my conversations with the minor Royals but what I will do is recommend one, for the regular readers, to put in the notebook. MAINSTREAM is crying out for 14 furlongs+ and don’t miss him if connections opt to try such a distance in the future. I guess he’ll remain perched on about 98, and yesterday’s run, and over a more suitable distance think he could be quite a force off this impost. Longer term I’d love to see Her Majesty, God bless her and save her, send him to Mr Henderson, slap him on the rump (Mainstream not Mr Henderson) and get him schooled over 8 flights of timber. My recommendations for today, people, would be LIMATO and PROJECTION. And I see WELD ARAB is back out of the morrow. Good luck, pilgrims.
I like Ten Theatre in the first at Gowran 6/1.Jesse trying on the head gear and step up in trip should suit.
2.30 Bartholomeu Dias 80/1 3.05 Dragon Mall 22/1 3.40 Across The Stars 16/1 4.20 Aclaim 33/1 5.00 Muntadab 22/1 5.35 US Army Ranger 6/1
hard to oppose the favourites in the opening races today but Masar could run SEPTEMBER very close in the opener. DARTMOUTH is the most likely winner of the Hardwicke but I also like CHEMICAL CHARGE as an each way bet at 33/1. if you forget the last race (on soft ground) the horse has never finished outside the top 2 in his 9 previous races. Sire is Sea the Stars and the up and coming Oisin Murphy is the jockey, all pointing to a big run.
They did not water last night at Ascot but it has been watered for more than a week. If it rains today the ground could become false. Horses that wanted overnight rain will be non-runners later. I hate being a favourite backer in big handicaps at the big meetings, especially at the likes of Royal Ascot where you know the prices are going to be false because of the prevalence of mug punters. Khairaat looked a horse going places at Chester but Stoute has not exactly had a stellar week, is more likely to be looking for a Royal winner elsewhere and the handicapper has not ignored that saunter on the Roodeye. With only nine pounds between top and bottom weight, this hardly reads like a handicap at all and CENTRAL SQUARE looks like he has been laid out for this having not run since the Guineas meeting – so watch one of the Godolphin horses beat it! When I look at the opposition in the Hardwicke Stakes, I can really only see it being hats off to The Queen as Dartmouth comes home with another victory for Stoute in a race he has farmed in recent times. It never wins when I back it but at the odds, I won’t be stopping it today. I definitely want to oppose Limato in the Diamond Jubilee (especially if it rains) as it is too short on recent form but figuring out which side of the draw is best makes it a difficult call between The Tin Man and Tasleet. Evidence of previous days says that nobody wants to be in the middle, so which side is going to go fastest?
