If that's true about his style then it does seem strange as we've always gone for managers who play a possession based style in whatever guise so would be quite a change.
Yeah, it might have been circumstantial that they played that way...Alaves wasn't overloaded with talent. But he got turfed by Valencia after playing really defensively away from home, too. And contrary to what some of the articles have suggested, it's not something that they did to begin the year only; if you check the possession stats late in the season, they were winning games with sub-40% possession and very few shots. They just all went in.
Palace favourites for Pelligrino according to Thhe Fail? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ce-lead-race-manager-Mauricio-Pellegrino.html
So what will he So , what will he go for ? Our infrastructure? Or , as has been mentioned , the lure of a London club that splashes the cash more than we do . I agree with those who think Pakace will get him .
Depends on many things, including money, but on footballing grounds I can't see why anyone would choose Palace over Southampton.
Maybe Palace at least show more ambition than our board. I.E. not selling their best players just as the new manager arrives? IMO that is going to have a baring on whoever takes the job............
Where MP goes will no doubt go where the biggest wage offer is like everyone in the football industry and sadly even little Palace pay a damn site more than us so am not confident we will get our managerial targets once they become public knowledge. As Beddy said, our annual sale of all our top players wouldn't overly endear me to the job either regardless of the structure and facilities built around the club
Think I read somewhere that Puel was on £3.5 million a year. We can easily match whatever Palace will pay him, unless it's a really silly wage and we won't match it I.e Koeman.
As others have written above: we annually sell off our best players contrary to what we actually state through the press. Not the best advertisement to a manager. So although salary might be matched; there are negatives. We can band around new potential owners: but they are precisely that: potential...
And still have four consecutive top 8 finishes, compared to Palace who have struggled every year they have been back in the Prem. Even though they may not sell any first team players, their playing squad needs a bigger overhaul then ours does. There's a reason apart from Zaha and Benteke no one comes in for their players.
