Some of that crack that's going around Anfailed at the moment? £35 million for player who had a decent season in the Championship and is having an okay season in the league.

Are you honestly telling me, that on the 1st January, you would have gladly swapped Torres for Carroll?

No we aren't but lets face it we wasn't left much choice in the matter.

And how are we swapping them, we've got 15 million remaining and we've now got TWO proven goal scorers instead of one...

now you think about it.. We have brought in Suarez and Carrol. We have lost light weight such as that flimsy left back and Ryan "Twitter" Babel who really gave the team very little. And we have lost Talisman Torres.

    Seems to be to be:

    Suarez + Carrol = Torres.

In my opinion. I don't think we are much weaker (probs stronger). Of course id much rather have Suarez + Torres; as was previously intended!

However I think Torres was only playing well recently because he wanted someone to come up with an offer in January. If you look at his play in September to late November, he simply wasn't interested. This is the type of player we would of had until say May when he feels the need to impress again. Taking that theory on board Id actually prefer to see Carrol.

Of course at the time (1st Jan) we all assumed Torres liked the club and was simply coming back on form from an injury he picked up. But I think it is more likely he just simply wanted to leave the club. The WUMS were right for once DX (that's depressing).

The wums weren't right about FSG. Carrol and Suarez are exactly the kind of young, talented players they said they're looking for and they haven't shirked from spending when it was required.

Carrol also has a slightly better goal ratio at 22 than Torres had. To think we almost had Anelka.

Apologizes. What i meant to say was: they seem to be right about Torres and him wanting to leave unfortunately.

I actually am looking forward to Carrol and Suarez

No apology needed, dude. I know I'm in a minority in still wanting to believe the best of him and he gave it a shot, stayed when he could've gone last summer when H&G would've taken what they could get for him without replacing him, but a number of factors wore him down and eventually caused his disillusionment, which even Kenny couldn't make up for.

I'll still be laughing at him if Carrol or Suarez get a winner against Chelsea, though. Then I'll probably feel a little sad for him that if we get Young and Adam tonight we'll have the 4 players he said we needed and Chelsea have only got him.

I like to think the rumour of him crying as he left Melwood is true. Jimmy Durante had a song that went, "Did you ever have the feeling that you wanted to go, still have the feeling that you wanted to stay, get up to go, sit down to stay, get up to go again, sit down to stay again, I go, I stay, did you ever have the feeling that you wanted to go...."
