    I don't think God exists.
I have never seen any evidence that he exists
and to touch on what Fry said, atheism isnt just not believing there is a god, but on the assumption that there is a god, he is a total ****, and not worthy of any of my respect or devotion, as he is, by his own rules a murdering, psychotic **** rag. <ok>

    Aye, it's this ^ really.

As long as it doesn't impinge on my existence I couldn't care less what people choose to worship or otherwise.

They don't believe in God, but can't prove God doesn't exist, it's therefore a belief by definition.

There is no burden to prove something doesn't exist - indeed is impossible. I don't believe in Pixies and fairies, but can't prove that either. So is that a belief system?

I'd disagree. Agnostics are not convinced, they believe only in what's knowable. An atheist has a firm belief that the creation of the universe is explainable by science.

Basically agnosticism, mate. You believe only in what's knowable.

My understanding of Atheism is the same as this wiki definition
    Atheism
please log in to view this image

Atheism is, in the broadest sense, the absence of belief in the existence of deities. Less broadly, atheism is the rejection of belief that any deities exist. In an even narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities. Atheism is contrasted with theism, which, in its most general form, is the belief that at least one deity exists.

I don't believe (there's a clue in the word mate) that the Loch Ness monster ever existed, that's therefore a belief, as I can't prove it didn't and others would argue their proof held up to scrutiny. Same goes for religion, as an atheist I don't believe in God, it's therefore my opinion, my belief. It's not a belief system though, that's faith that people acquire via religion.

I believe that the creation of the earth is sufficiently explained by science.
Not only its creation, but its properties also, such as gravity, climate etc

It's a belief in not believing then. It's mincing words.

Atheists believe there is no Supreme being or beings. Theists believe there is.

Not wishing to be flippant, but the clue is in the word before believe. Absence of belief is not a belief.

I think you're right, seems to have got bogged down in semantics. I had a point at one stage though.

We can play semantics all day mate, as my belief is that there is no such thing as God.

Confucianism and Taoism, later joined by Buddhism, constitute the "three teachings" that have shaped Chinese culture. ... The government formally recognises five religions: Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Protestantism, and Catholicism (though the Chinese Catholic Church is independent of the Catholic Church in Rome).

Interesting, wasn't aware the communist party accepted any religion. Only quibble I would have is saying Protestantism and Catholicism are different religions.

That's what you believe will happen but not necessarily true....

As for your point about gay, religion does not say go look for gays and punish them, you need to know background to all this stuff, just because some distort something it doesn't mean its true...
