Regardless though, if you believe in the democracy then in some places and countries they wont accept your views in majority no matter how right or true you believe your opinion to be.
Nobody says that The God Delusion is infallible truth. Even Dawkins wouldn't say that. It also isn't an outlook on life. It's about a single question. As for people quoting it, they also do that for virtually everything else, including comedies. Fundamentalist Monty Pythonists are everywhere, apparently.
Circular argument mate, you cant demand proof from someone when you don't even know what proof you are looking for and any that is provided the goal posts move. There are millions that find there is proof and change their views on God and the other way too but you have to have defined set of rules as to what would be proof that you require personally.
Atheism is nothing to do with any specific god. It isn't the disbelief in Christian God, or Hindu God's, or the Islamic version of God. A lot of times xians take atheism to be a belief that THEIR god doesn't exist. There is no bias in atheism they believe that no god story sounds accurate or likely. They make no claim about God. They don't believe in gods in general. Sure, you get people like Dawkins who make it their mission in life to bash xians and xianity. He acts not too dissimilar to any rash preacher of any religion, but he is not representative of atheists. Atheism is not a religion. Atheism shouldn't even exist as a word. We don't have words for people who don't play football or people who don't ****. The word atheist started as a slur from religious people to try and paint their enemies as evil non believers. Just because a term exists and is used doesn't mean you should think of it as a religion or really try to group together people who don't believe in one net.
the hell he wouldn't. He's one of the most stuck up his own arse people in the world. If God were real and Dawkins arrived at the pearly Gates and for some reason were invited in. He would tell St Peter to **** off because he's obviously a hallucination.
You've literally just made all of that up. I didn't demand anything, nor say anything about proof, whatsoever. You seem to believe that someone has to disprove a claim or to accept that it's true. That's nonsense. If someone says that the 1946 FA Cup Final was won by Norwich, you don't have to prove that it was Derby to say that you don't believe them.
Yes obviously there are plenty of places in the world where people would disagree. Luckily we live in the U.K. I do however think that as those places become more advanced and developed, social attitudes will change and religion will have less influence in government and people will accept the things I raised in point two like being gay.
In a generic sense everyone is a fundamentalist as you have to believe in the fundamentals of who you believe you are at the end of the day, its the extremist that are different and that exists in all corners believers and non-believers..
Yeah, thinking about it, not as secular as I thought before this debate. Something should be done about that.......
I'm an atheist, but I'd never describe myself as a fundamentalist, and my lack of belief in God is not fundamental to who I am either mate. I don't believe in fairies or the Loch Ness monster either, it's just one of a long list of things I don't believe exist. I'm not sure what an extremist atheist is etiher tbh, does he rock up at a Church and start barracking worshippers?
It's been discussed more in recent years, the argument for becoming a true secular state is much stronger than it was say 30 years ago.
It seems clear to me that both theists and atheists work on a belief system. Neither can absolutely prove their beliefs, so they remain just that - beliefs. Each to his own.
