This is a genuine question as I sit here looking at the fixture list. Please CLIVETIME I would prefer you not to post in this thread, we already know your thoughts... If we don't get all three points tonight we have two games away to West Ham and Ipswich looming. I wouldn't fancy our chances of taking three points from either of those if we can't beat Boro or Hull at home. With that in mind we could be rooted to the foot of the league come the 27th, just three days before transfer deadline day and some 14 days before our next league game. Hopefully this won't be the case and a confidence winning boost will be achieved tonight, but if it isn't and we do struggle on the next two away games.... Do you think Grayson would be given until the new year to sort things out or do you think Bates might sack Simon? If he sacked Simon he could use the excuse of transfer deadline passing for the non injection of funds for new players and a possible new manager would get two weeks to work with the squad before the next league game. I can imagine Bates singing up a new manager and promising fans that funds will be made available in January when the new guy has assessed what is needed. I would like him to be given time to sort it out and get the injured players back, I can't see another manager available who could do a better job but would Bates see it the same way?
BATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS AT THE MOMENT SO YOU CAN DISCOUNT THAT QUESTION especially with the BBC likely to take an interest in him its going to be very jolly over the next month or so I believe you don,t upset people like that unless you think your invincible Simon will stay mark my words he his a very good young manager whatever that clown says
Regardless of how good Grayson is, anything less than three points from the next three games could see his demise. Hope not though because i have a feeling we will not be able to attract a better manager with bates at the helm. The next ten days will be huge for manager and club
he might be in trouble come Xmass, if results don't turn around, but will surely get to then given how little has been invested in the playing squad
I agree, I lay the blame on lack of funds but reading a Ken Bates interview the other day where he said Grayson has a budget and he decides on players and wages I wonder if Bates is laying a foundation for blame. He will surely say that Simon signed and loaned this player and that player and if they were not good enough... I feel for Simon because he has made some very poor signings but you can't help feel he is having to take a gamble with his 3rd and 4th choices. My exact worries too, what hope would any new manager have same team, no money and same Chairman.
bates can tell a lie and believe it himsen---as for grayson i think e will be history in less than a month if e does go i hope he takes his ****e players with him----my oppinion
He'll be around hopefully for a long time. Today's and Tuesday performances were terrific and if we keep it up could still be in shakeup in April
people are likely to feel positive after today. We went away to the league favourites and the only goes scored against us were little mistakes where we were punished - when you're playing against a team formed mostly of premier league standard players, it's understandable. The only niggle I have is, once again, after scoring the first equaliser - we backed off! Every single time, we were pressuring them and pushing, never letting them have any breathing room and as the half wore on it translated into lots of posession and pressure for us. McCormack gets the goal and 5 seconds after the half has started and their players have acres of space and so much breathing room. 2 minutes later and they've stung us again. Although Kisnorbo scored the OG and could have saved the embarrassment using his left foot, had he not got a touch they would have scored anyway. It's this complacency and lack of killer instinct in defending freshly scored goals that is killing our chances of promotion time and again. There needs to be a psychologist or something brought in to provide mental strength training.
im not sure.... yes mid week and today was much better...my concern is how hard is he pushing for cash to stregthan the squad and also to get improved contracts for players... My fear he is not strong enough with Bates so we may loos some good talent.. Can he take us to the next level... Yes Will he.... i dont think so.... i hope he gets a fair crack this year but if we are out of the top 6 by Xmas i think he will go..which would be mad.. bates would have to give a new Manager money to spend otherwise he will not attract anyone...so why not give Larry the cash now... a decent CB and i believe we would be there or there abouts.... Larry has done a good job.... not a great or an amazing job equally he has not been terrible....remember he got us promoted and in our first season back we got to 7th.....
He stumbled upon the team, that did so well today and Tuesday, by accident. The same thing happened last season when we were 16th until he discovered how well Howson in the hole worked against Scunthorpe, and we rose to 2nd. Why can't Grayson do anything by design? It would be criminal if we fell short again after showing great promise. We've had nearly 3 years of Grayson now, we all know what he's like. It's okay people saying they have faith in him, but if they really did then there wouldn't have been such negativity at the start of the season.
God you're such a ****ing ****head clive. How do you "stumble upon a team that works by accident", or even a player in a position that works, by accident? At some point every manager has had to try players in positions they haven't tried before, it's called taking a ****ing risk. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Basically, if he puts a player out of position and it doesn't work well, he's "an idiot". If he puts a player out of position and it works, it's "by accident". There's no winning with you. This is why you have nothing to contribute to this community and why nobody wants you here. I can only hope for your sake you're not so miserable and pesimistic in real life because it pains me seeing people so unhappy, closed off and incapable of ever feeling anything but doom and gloom. It drags people down and if you are like that in real life, I'd make a pretty good assumption you have no friends, because I know I certainly couldn't spend time with someone who couldn't get over a single subject. He didn't stumble upon it by accident, he tried something and it worked. It worked very well. He went with the same strategy today, and it worked again. He actively made that decision to go with the same strategy. The only changes he made were the correct ones - swap Nunez for Gradel (Nunez isn't naturally a winger, much less a left one - well done Grayson, correct decision), and swap Brown for Howson. This one I didn't see coming, I was expecting a 4-5-1 with Keogh up front and Howson on in place of McCormack. But no, he took off a player who's seemed pretty redundant and put another player in his place who is faster and more creative. He actively had these thought processes, and he made those decisions. None of this happens "by accident", you discover what works and what doesn't by taking risks.
Nah Marko, if a team selection is good, its by accident. Grayson is a **** manager remember, he doesnt get anything right. Its always by accident, the promotion from league 1 as well was by accident
I wish he'd stumble accross a decent defence by accident. So much flair & swagger going forward,so fragile at the back. Same old story. At least we have a top class GK at long last,& looks like White is the answer to the LB problem, bur apart from that we STILL can't defend. A solid defence & this league is there for the taking.
Lichaj coming back would be a massive improvement to the defence, but not the total answer. As long as Grayson fails to sort out the defence, we are likely to get beat and therefore Grayson's on a sticky wicket. We need two centre halfs of physical ability, experience and technical ability, not an easy thing to find, but we need it and we need it now.
Well I would say he is a lot safer now, as important as the 4 points in the last two matches is the performance. Must not count our chickens against Ipswich though, sure their confidence will be shot to bits but we must not take points for granted. Ipswich WILL get it right before the end of the season, just hope it isn't before this weekend.
We need a leader there, that's for sure. We can't rely on Kisnorbo being that figure if he keeps playing the way he has. Sadly this type of player would cost what other clubs apparently refer to as a transfer fee.
I'm going to give kissa the benefit of the doubt for a few more games and hold my judgement until after that. I mean, I know he's had a full preseason and 4 championship games to get back in his stride, but I can imagine that won't have been quite enough considering how long he was out. I sincerely hope the coaches have him working on using his left foot.
