We need contingency plan whenever Africa Cup of Nations is on.

 

Unfortunately, Africans are becoming the new Brazilians. I do understand your misgivings. A bit of variety wouldn't go amiss.

Speaking to The Liverpool Echo podcast, Jonathan Northcroft has said that a move for Virgil van Dijk could be still on, whilst a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may also be in the pipeline.

These, of course, are two deals that we have seen plenty said about over the last few months with ‘The Ox’ a player who has seemingly become unhappy at Arsenal.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, looked like he was going to join at one point but it seemingly went to the wall after Southampton threatened us with a Premier League investigation.


Nevertheless, a move for him could still be on, as well as the England international.

Indeed, Northcroft said on the van Dijk situation:

“If Klopp wants Van Dijk more than anything I think he will get his way and Liverpool will pay what Southampton want.

“Once the new manager comes in and the player comes back, Van Dijk may become a problem Southampton don’t want to have.”

He also said on the Arsenal man:

“Just because Liverpool have signed Salah doesn’t mean they won’t also sign Oxlade-Chamberlain. Klopp likes him a lot.”

 

Ox would be really good IMO - can play out on the wing or centrally.

 

Would be good competition on the wings and would provide width and pace when Mane and Salah go off to the ACON

 

Not keen on The Ox myself. Just don't see what he'd add at all.
