Is he going to get game time? I know they're sending Borja packing, but it's a big punt to take on a 19 year old who has never kicked a ball in the PL.
The fact that Slutsky wanted players in by July 3 and the fact that numerous players are being linked away was more my point. Bodies through the door will show intent and possibly prevent some from leaving. But you carry on with your cheap digs.
Why have we offered him a new deal? Just let the bloke leave, at 34 he'll want to finish somewhere playing every week not sat on our bench.
Are they? The window isn't even open yet. The only major championship signing I can think of so far is Marley Watkins. Fans love being OTT
Of course he is. Have you seen him play? It's a great move for him, he'll play every week. It's not a big punt to take a kid with his talent on loan. It's probably the safest risk they'll take all season.
The window is already open, it opens on June the 7th. Players are free to move between clubs pretty much as soon as the previous season finishes and there are no other commitments. It's why some have signed already. As for other clubs, Burton have signed Liam Boyce, whom I wouldn't have minded as back up here. Top scorer in the SPL last season, decent striker. There's no panic at all, as has been said already, we have 2 months of transfer window to sort the squad out and if we go into our first pre season with less than 13 players I'll be very surprised.
I think he was being sarcastic to mock my comment. My comment was due to the fact our squad is down to the bare bones and we need to start getting players in to prevent the remaining players - Huddlestone, Evandro, Dawson, etc. - from looking elsewhere when they otherwise may not.
I have seen him play, yes. I've also seen other young players smash it in the Championship, get loaned to a relegation threatened club and be a bit ****. Campbell springs to mind. So does Bamford.
Then somebody needs to tell these other players to hot foot it back to their other clubs because at least 70 or so have already made moves.
Bamford was different, I never thought he could make the step up. No player so young has scored so often in the championship as Tammy
They can move but it doesn't officially go through till July 1st. You can sign a player in December but it can't go through til Jan.
So you never thought he could step up? What does that mean? Boro obviously thought he could, so did Palace and Burnley and Norwich. Mousa Dembele managed 15 at the same age and came through a much worse academy and I'd say he's a better striker atm than Abraham is. I think Abraham is very good, don't get me wrong, but at this stage in his development it would be better for him playing for a top end Championship team. Young players often can't handle the pressure of PL relegation and it could harm his progress.
They move but the registration doesn't go through till July 1st. It's not rocket science. Also one of the reasons that contracts run from 1st July to end of June usually
He never seemed good enough for the PL. Burnley and Norwich saw him as a cheap punt, if it works, great, if not who cares. Boro got him on the cheap and with the cost of Championship strikers at present, he only has to score their to be worth substantially more than they paid. Dembele is playing in Scotland for by far the best team in the country. Scott Sinclair also scored a hatful, which says pretty much everything about that league. Tammy is ready for the PL and looks every ounce a PL player. It would be better for us to have him in the champ but not him. Everyone moans about kids not being given a chance in the PL, and when one comes along who's good enough you say lets leave him in the chsmp where he scored a hatful in a garbage team. Oh and btw Dembele came through the PSG academy, not Fulhams
Take it from me boys, trying to predict how well a striker will do at a new club in the PL generally doesn't pan out well.
