Too hot to sleep tonight, just decided to watch this on LUTV. Angus Kinnear introduced the conference. Couldn’t string two words together in his introduction. Got better. Mentioned investing in property, we will see. TC – first impression: lacklustre, not great presence, annoying little voice (won’t enjoy hearing him explaining our defeats in that voice). Comes over as a bit weak, “I’m flexible” was said a couple of times, did not sound like a positive attribute. Spouted a lot of platitudes, all correct but it depends whether he really can do it all. One positive - Likes to control games, building up from the back (agree with that) Seems to think the Championship is direct, teams playing 4-4-2 (only partly right, theres a lot more to it) Keeps mentioning “my ideas” would be the answer to the various challenges he was asked about – fair enough, though very unspecific. Hope theres some real content behind that phrase or its just BS. Orta – avoided question about signings. Won’t pay a lot for players, wants them to want to play for Leeds (yeah….. that sounds like a cheapskate). He seemed a bit of a nothing person to me, though I accept that could be partly a language issue. Overall, not impressed with the personal qualities of anyone during the conference. Its just possible TC is a great thinker (it was positive he prepared on the club and on the players - shades of Don Revie and his dossiers) and will deliver despite not being a big personality. However there is also a possibility he won't stamp his authority on the players. It really did remind me of Hockaday's first conference. Overall - horribly underwhelmed, hope to find events prove my reservations to be unfounded.
My first impression of Orta was that he liked the sound of his own voice (although I struggled to understand him a lot of the time). i might even go as far to say that I saw him as being a bit of a bully. Hope I'm wrong.
