Seems less likely to me that he resigned three weeks ago as the club said, unless he was hoping for the head coach job or knew a new coach would bring his own back room team.

I do agree with you, but did the club actually use those specific words though? I remember at the presser they said that that Pep told them 3 weeks ago that he wanted to 'seek new challenges', but they never mentioned him resigning. Why would he lose 4-5 weeks money by doing that? He certainly indicated that he wasn't following Monk though.

I missed the presser, so only heard it reported as 'resigned' so you're probably right. He possibly still thought he was in with a shout because of his popularity with the fans. Some still unhappy he hasn't been retained. Actually, it might have been worthwhile doing so to help TC? Pep has experienced English football at prem and championship level. He may have missed a trick to keep the fans on board right from the off.

I think the conflict is because Monk took the Midds job, with Beattie following him, but Pep on holiday & officially still employed until the end of this month. Agnew was told he could keep his job on Monks coaching staff but wasnt assistant manager at that time. So peeps thought Pep would join him. They obviously fell out
