It would be entirely possible to simply lynch Zan, but there's no point. He doesn't really effect anything. The only thing that matters if he's telling the truth is that AFCFTW is town. The double bluff could be they're both Maf.....

Yes. That thought had been in my mind. AFC had hardly contributed so it would be a great way to deal with an inactive mafia. Kill him against a back story and then wipe his record to leave the cover in place.
I think it was a joke in MITOese. The point becomes that the backstabber then needs to get themselves lynched.
One thing we haven't mentioned so far is the Witch. They actually have a very powerful role. They are virtually undetectable and should be working to make sure evil teams survive and that town are killed. The only way I think they can be discovered is to look for people leading the vote process when a town is lynched. When you think that the backstabber is probably doing the same thing then that becomes a bigger factor the further the game progresses.

This could be a valid point but did you vote for Swantastic after everyone else? (Btw I haven't gone back to check) because if you did then maybe you conspired to cut your losses and make you look more powerful later. Double bluffing? I'm not accusing, just discussing a theory.
