Enjoy the weekend all. Have finally got an over fitted so am going to cook some things that the comal can´t. Mabye some crumble!!
Good morning from a warm island. I watched the Nottinghamshire innings at Essex last night - fantastic chase, but I dread to think what state Samit Patel would've been in if the match had been a day game or Notts had batted first if he'd played a similar innings in those situations.
Morning all. Another very hot day forecast, but at present there is a little breeze that helps to make it quite comfortable. According to the BBC it is very much hotter in Spain. Not sure how I would cope with that and I think my gardening would have to take a different form.
Good morning all from sunny NW London. Went to see Hans Zimmer last night. Nearly three hours of top, top music! Surreal moment when they performed Video Killed the Radio Star with matey boy from The Buggles (senior moment namewise) with a rap too.... hilarious! Fantastic show all round. Today we will be showing support to Borough Market...
Beautiful morning here. Coffee and newspaper then off to the village fete. Have to get there early or all the best home made cakes are gone!
Good morning from a sunny St. Helier. Watching Vintage TV and the programme "Wake Up in the 80s", they played the Thomas Dolby song "She Blinded me with Science", which only got to 49 in the UK but was a top 10 hit in other countries, including the US, even getting to #1 in Canada. I'm sure that I saw Dr. Magnus Pyke in the video - how many of you remember him? Edit: I've just checked - it is him.
Morning all from an already warm rural France. It is that day in the month when we join up with friends for a good dinner and gossip. The restaurant we are going to has a lovely garden alongside a little river feeding into the old wash house building. In my hamlet my neighbour recalls the days when he would help his grandmother take and fetch her washing through the fields to the river about 600 metres away. There are old photographs showing washing spread out on bushes to dry. What a different life we have today.
Morning all. We are now under an orange alert from the weather man. Not storms, flooding or snow, but extreme heat. Do not go out without a hat and a bottle of water is the advice. Temperatures locally could reach 37°-39°C today and could increase as the week goes by. The government has plans in place to ensure that the elderly are looked after in such conditions, and last year when we had a similar hot spell they seemed to work very well. We have two district nurses living in our hamlet, and they will go to every home in the area where there are elderly folks to ensure that they have all that they need in the way of fans and refrigerated water. Everyone else is asked to check up on the elderly on a daily basis, something that happens in these rural parts without prompting. Simple things, but it does save lives.
I remember him very well Baz, in fact he has come up twice in the past week. Only last week he was being interviewed on the afternoon show on 5-Live, I think he was plugging his biography. Very interesting life, I did not realise he played keyboards for David Bowie at Live Aid and he wrote a song for Michael Jackson. I have just obtained one of those Bluetooth turntables and spent yesterday playing some of my vinyl collection whilst sampling some of the ales I was supplied with for Fathers Day - one of the first 12 inch singles I played was that followed by I Scare Myself and then Hyperactive. A very talented musician who is now a Tech Guru living in California.
Ha ha...I was referring to Thomas Dolby* * that is not his real name, but his nickname from school because he was a real techy geek even then. Also the Dolby company took him to court to stop him using the name but could not.
