Indeed. I'm only being a killjoy because he's a pretty good keeper and has gone to that Merseyside club.
Tense finale as England hold on against a very good Slovakia team. Decent match and a great finish from Redmond, who played well. Tammy Abraham put in a great shift upfront, despite not getting much service of note. Would be a good loan move for a premier league side. I wonder if Chalobah would be a player we might consider. Chelsea squad players have been a good source
Poland got a late draw which means England top the table....all to play for on Thursday v Poland. Just catching up on stuff and watched the highlights of England's U20 World Cup win. Both teams hit the bar and a good penalty save by England. Good result. FIFA are discussing changing the rules on penalties (amongst a raft of other things being considered)....once a keeper saves a penalty, you can't score from the follow up. Sounds a good rule change for me.
That would be an interesting rule change, but what happens then? Presumably the ref would have to give an indirect free kick to the defending side. Or you could say someone other than the penalty taker can score from the rebound.
Not so sure Fran, I was trying to think it through. So if the keeper saves the ball it would be considered "dead" I suppose. But this would also stop any counter attack and what if more than one touch from the keeper is required to keep the ball from crossing the line? Not that likely but it does happen (via touch onto bar), just seems to be a solution looking for a problem.
The ball is considered dead if the keeper saves the penalty. The suggested rule change says that a goal kick is then awarded.
If there are no rebounds there would be little point in counter attacking as the team with the penalty would just reorganise whilst the striker takes the penalty.
Hadn't considered that. Other players would move up the pitch in case the keeper takes a quick goal kick, so the player taking the penalty would be left all on his own. The rest of your team disappearing at speed would suggest that they lack confidence in your scoring ability.

If we win our group, we are likely to face Portugal next* *Meant in U21s, not implying that we are playing the main Portugal team....that would be scary!!
