Terrakova went from 1 off the the rail to 5 wide round the bend because Rhododendron stopped right in front of her, Senga never had had to break stride luckily. Terrakova didnt have the gears to overcome it, she takes a few strides to hit top gear while Senga and Shutter Speed had a faster gear change. Terrakova was the one id have taken from the race beforehand just for the pedigree alone and Id still take her after the race, she has stepped up on her Group 3 trial win, Shutter Speed didnt improve as much from hers but still ran like a decent filly, could probably drop back to a mile with her.
Moore did a great job pulling up Rhododendron, could have been nasty but he was excellent in making sure he didn't cause a pile up and allowed all around him to move on with little fuss. The 2nd ran a cracker and was rather overlooked considering her form was ok coming into it. Reports stating Rhodedendron burst a blood vessel so she will be fine after a break.
The 2nd got slightly hampered in the straight as well, did have a dream trip round the inside until that point tho, thats probably what got her second in the end. Chantilly is a nightmare of a track, good trip counts for a lot and I suspect its all downhill from here for the Sistercharlie but worth a few quid for breeding now.
Bit greedy of them to run Rhododendron was it not? After a hard race finishing empty in a soft ground Oaks. You either go for one or the other.
One more for me: 4:20 Cork - Blue Book 9/1 Price a little bit too short for ew but I've gone ew nonetheless as I'm not confident enough to go all in on the win. Showed probably just enough last time out after a lay off to think it could improve for for the run so I'm taking a chance
Happy with my ew money and I'll leave it at that. Been a decent day betting wise. Back at work tomorrow after nearly 3 weeks off on leave always hate going back after so long off takes some getting back into
agree with you there smokey , three weeks off and going back to the grind is crap , especially as you know what's coming
Whilst it was raining during the running of the Oaks, the going was Good, so clearly the notion that it was "soft ground" is not shared very widely. The Derby was also run on Good ground the following day.
You just get used to being off, work gets forgotten about and you get used to doing stuff you want to do with the time to do it. Nothing irks me more at work when you hear people saying they wouldn't retire because they'd be bored. **** that, I'm 35 and could happily see out my days never working again without being bored
well thats ok then, wouldnt have blown out a candle in that case she finished legless off a proper gallop in a field strung out like 3 mile chasers with turf flying all the way up the straight, safe to say she had a race
When she was beaten in the Oaks, Moore accepted it and let her coast home second. Clearly the trainer thought that the horse had recovered from the exertions sixteen days earlier or he would not have run her. Reportedly the filly broke a blood vessel today, which could not have been foreseen as there is no prior history.
yes when she had nothing left to give, moore stopped whipping her in the last half furlong easy race by all accounts, done more in a gallop
