Ps. what trophy did spurs win in the two years that Harry Lame won the golden boot? Courtois Golden glove winner won a Premiership winners medal.

This is about diving so we definitely lost that one to your lot of Tom Daleys (or should that be Arthur Daleys)

The diving 'craze' started when Chelsea began brining ever foreign player on the market to the PL. Diving is far worse in many leagues around Europe than here, Chelsea just happened to bring that culture to the UK.

Either that or I'm just going with Man Utd.

It was Mourinho. Chelsea under Mourinho were awful divers (just like United under Mourinho, Madrid under Mourinho, etc)... When Mourinho left Chelsea they slowly stopped diving as much.

I half suspect 30 mins of every training session with Jose is how to effectively dive.

  9. I think the subject of the thread ought to be "which players have been the biggest divers in Prem history?"

Posters should also post evidence of their claim(s), preferably in the form of game footage.

Lots of players have been renowned for going down far too easily, and have earned the reputation of "diver."

The only Spurs player whom I would be prepared to place in that class, in recent years, was Bale. In his case, I think the reputation was unfairly earned, as he was most often the focus of a concerted effort on the part of opposition teams to "do him some damage," and a lot of his alleged "dives" were properly given as fouls against the defender.

Bournemouth know how to hit the deck.

Dele Alli is comfortably the worst in the league these days. The new Ashley Young.

Was going to suggest Bournemouth too... they were even at it in the Championship! It just doesn't get highlighted as much as it's not one of the big teams!

Otherwise... surely it all started when Spurs brought in Klinsmann <whistle>

Bollocks. I vote for Vardy and Mahrez. The old Ashley Young is still better than most however

Anybody remember Bobby Tambling of Chelsea. Managed to roll over twenty times every time he got touched.

That's a real hard thing to do. Nowadays so many players dive on a regular basis it would be hard to pick one individual. Plus, is a player who is rarely in the box but dives every time he is the biggest diver? Or the striker who lives in and around the box but dives only once a game?

Are we going to go with total dives or % times dived from compromising position. I don't think you can pick a worst diver.

In the early days it was easy. Drogba and Ronaldo pioneered mass-diving as a tactic in the premier league. In those days everyone knew they were the biggest divers.

A few years later you had a few dozen players diving. Now, just about anyone can and will do it.

Anyone looking for some more Chelsea related diving should watch this:

Oscar living up to his name, having kicked the ball at two opposition players.
He's then clearly killed. RIP. <peacedove><rose>

Ive said it before and I'll say it again.

A nice stamp and drag on his calf as he lay on the floor would have been justified.

We've already established that you'd just deny it, anyway. What's the point?
