Ye taking the blame off himself and putting it on Marshall. I wish Marshall well but as GLP says I. Doubt it's here. Fresh start and someone gets a good keeper.
Yeah but they also hear the collective groans when they so happen to make a mistake! If they're wearing the shirt they get my support! Even ELMO!
Marshall's first 3 games were Stoke in the cup, then Liverpool and Bournemouth. I am sure that Marshall operates on confidence and very little else. In his first game at Stoke, he was fantastic. Kicking was good. Made some good saves and only conceded because of an incredible strike from Arnautovic. Then Liverpool, 2-0 down and a man down early on to a team like that? In truth 5-1 wasn't as bad as it could've been. But Bournemouth where he largely got let down by the 10 in front of him was I think, the turning point. Because after that it seemed like it was 4 goals shipped one week then 3 then another 4. He was a fantastic keeper when Cardiff were in the Prem yes, but I don't think he'll recover that kinda form or at least not here. It's been an all round distaster for him from conceding 11 in his first 2 league games, to the moronic abuse his wife was subject to on Twitter to being in goal for the biggest home defeat in the clubs history. And ended the season where he was number one for a good chunk of it, with zero clean sheets. Yes, as a fan base we've been pissed off with Jak before. But he was 27-28 at that point. He's worked for 4-5 years to get where he is. If Marshall has to do the same his career will be as good as over by then. I like Marshall but it hasn't worked out. And I can't see it working out. So for me we just have to cut our losses and get rid.
I keep going back to the same point - how exactly do we 'cut our losses and get rid'? Seriously - when people suggest this what is the outcome they're actually suggesting? Nobody will pay a fee for him. Nobody will pay him the wages we do. He must have 2 or 3 years left (I haven't checked) so he won't walk away for much less money. We won't pay off his contract. Where do we go from there then?
Ex-****ing-actly! I think too many people have been playing computer games and if signing doesn't work you just get rid of him.
So next season when Jak is in goal everyone should be singing for Marshall? that will go down well. Oh hang on Jak will have gone so we will have McGregor in goal.
FFS - NO! When did I suggest anything like that? I really think people are missing the point here. I expect the vast majority if not all of us think The Jak is our best keeper. Then the same will think McGregor is our second best. But they're also our most moveable goalkeepers and have 1 year each left on their deals. We cannot keep all 3 senior keepers and we cannot just turn round to Marshall and say "soz mate, it hasn't worked. You don't mind walking away and cutting up your contract do you cos we can't really afford to keep all of you?"
Nobody is missing the point FFS. Sometimes **** just doesn't work out. Niasse at Everton as an example. The kid just needs to move on - I'd drive him any where - he's been a ****ing disaster. I don't agree with any abuse his Mrs has had either.
No we just stop slagging him off on hear and get behind him! Like I said before it wasn't that long ago that jak wasn't on everyone's team sheet! Goalkeeper isn't our worry!
We certainly have and I'll bang on until such a time the misguided and wholly underserved criticism stops.
Well as in life and football opinions vary. Mine is that he's hopeless, yours is contrary to that. I think we'll park it there. Leave it to our ex goalkeeping management duo to make the absolute obvious choice.
FFS Free transfer. Someone would take him on a free. It's not complicated. Look at some of the **** players that have found homes on the basis they are 'free'.
Free transfer? im sorry but as crap as Marshall has been, he's still a £5m investment in the squad. You cant expect the Allams to just let him walk for free. Also, you dont become a bad player overnight. He'll have a fresh start under Slutsky and hopefully we'll see a steady pair of hands again.
