Helen, anyone lying on that hospital bed would be perfectly entitled to say "piss off"

What pisses me off is that some people are using this tragedy for their own political agenda. I reckon a fair few who have marched on Downing Street just care about getting May out. That should not be a concern at the moment. At the moment it's about grieving for those killed and finding out what happened in detail. Politics should take a massive back seat right now.

Totally agree. I wonder how many are genuine grieving family and how many are just taking advantage. They even have their handy professionally made anti government banners.......

Is that all that pisses you off Tom.? I would have thought there were plenty more issues from the whole scenario that were a damn sight more important than if someone decides to make a political point where and when it might actually get some attention.

Well that just backs up my point. People who only want to make a political point from this have got their priorities screwed up.

Not really. It only backs up your point if you insist on looking at it from your perspective. You're obviously unable look at from theirs. Empathy, Tom.

There will always be a few that take advantage of a situation. But it is time the poor/sick/disabled and people who support them to start protesting at how **** they are treated. The tragedy at Grenfell has tipped so many people over the edge they have been looking over for years.

Yeah I'm not having a go at them, it's the people who will use any excuse to protest against the government and to throw a few bricks.

The point isn't disagreeing with that it's pointing out that the people taking advantage of a terrible situation are pretty despicable.

Anarchists will turn up to anything, they are scum. Most of them are also completely insane. I know one that thinks 9/11 was filmed before it actually happened...

I posted this earlier. Have a read because it tackles the "politicising" of this tragic, but avoidable event.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/were-dying-because-dont-count-10631261

If you don't want to read it, this is an extract from it.

"What can anyone tell them now? Only that they are “politicising” their own tragedy. In truth, the Grenfell Tower battle was politicised long before fire began spreading on Wednesday morning.

It was politicised the moment the KCTMO stopped listening to its tenants and ignored eight fire warnings in the three years.

It was politicised when the Grenfell Action Group posted on its blog in November: “We firmly believe that only a catastrophic event will expose the ineptitude and incompetence of our landlord.”

It was politicised when Theresa May’s new chief of staff Gavin Barwell failed during his time as Housing Minister to publish the report on updating building fire regulations that followed the horrific blaze at Lakanal House tower block in South East London in 2009.

And it was politicised when Tory MPs – 39% of whom are private landlords – voted down legislation proposed by Labour to protect tenants."

    Absolutely agree, St.B.

Oh dear, they've upset the country, by having their friends and loved ones caught up in an avoidable fire, and not being quiet about it. Not exactly British, is it.

That middle sentence was me being heavily sarcastic, by the way.

What? For the last time, no one is having a go at them, just at the attention seeking prats who have been provided an excuse for a protest. Not the people who have a good reason to protest, and do so in the correct way.

I saw Guns N' Roses at the Olympic stadium last night. Really nice stadium and surrounding park, the only downside was all the 'claret and blue' and associated West Ham slogans adorning it.
