It was the easiest decision Silva ever had to make. Marshall's confidence was shot to pieces by Phelan not taking him out of the firing line when he did. Do you think De Gea would've developed as well as he has if Ferguson hadn't known precisely when to drop him?
I'm 100% sure they and every single player we have are available for loan and sale. Having somebody want to do that and pay their large wages is the tricky part...
We subsidise. They should be on reduced wages following relegation. Jak and Mannion would be 1 and 2 for me this season. I'd even be tempted just to make them available for free if it meant keeping Jak.
I'm 100% sure they are both available for free. If somebody came in tomorrow and said we'll take Marshall's contract over, we'd snap their hands off. The problem is they won't.
I know its heart over head, but there needs to be a connect between the club and the supporters and it seems Jak is that connect. BUT, it's business and its his financial future if the chooses to leave. I think we're all agreed that we need to move people out lets hope a club comes on for Marshall or Gregor. I think is a case of watch this space.. Mannion is a keeper in every sense of the word..
I just don't see in any world where Marshall is any good, let alone where he is POTY material. I hope your right, but I have such little faith that if he does well then I'll eat a McDonalds Big Mac.
I had exactly the same conversation when Damien Delaney was subbed off in tears as the crowd cheered. Except the Big Mac part.
On recent form, 100% yes. I never said he had been playing well. It would be appalling management to just ditch someone after 6 months of football into a long term expensive contract.
Marshall had been affected by lack of confidence! He's like a rabbit in the headlights and all these comments won't help! He's had a crap year but I've seen him play for Cardiff a few times and he's been excellent! I remember when a few in here wouldn't want jak near the first team not so long ago! If he's with us he should be given respect and support!
I think he is good enough, he just hasn't shown it yet. It was a stupid decision to buy him but let's not make an equally stupid decision now we have him.
I'm giving him respect by suggesting he resurrects his career elsewhere. Some times players don't work out at certain clubs, that's life. I don't think he's suitable to be our first choice goalkeeper. I was quite pleased when he arrived thinking we'd signed that Cardiff keeper that played so well for them. I haven't seen any indication that the Marshall that was at Cardiff in the PL is the same player we have here. Such is the difference in his performances.
Lost cause in my opinion. I'm glad Slutsky and Pennock both have backgrounds in goalkeeping - they'll have recognised what requires doing, if we want to challenge at the right end of the table.
