Agreed that May's response was reactive and not proactive, only going back the following day yesterday so see the people in hospital, but whether or not that was her fault with the planning is irrelevant as it's the impression that it creates and strengthens the perception and the view that people have of her, that she's not strong. I agree. On one level she did the right thing - on the logical pragmatic level. But it shows a lack of emotional intelligence beyond belief (beyond Gordon Browns, I'd say) not to realise if you are the leader of the country you have to go there. If she'd gone right at the start - before people like Sadie Khan turned up even, yes she'd have got some Aggro but no more than he got. Now it's too late. No doubt she got advice to do just her private visit, but it was a moment to say 'eff off I'm PM I'm talking to them'
