Just had a look on twitter, couldn't see any mention from his dad or brother who are the usual suspects? edit: not sure why its not showing up in his feed but i did just see a link to something his brother posted.
I know it is a bit silly to read too much into theseveral sort of things but if Ryan Bertrand has been unhappy and wanted out for months, then why use him so much for the kit release promo? He was in that silly video series as well as the official kit release photo shoot (alongside VVD). If he is so unhappy and is more than likely surely we would have just used other players such as JWP or Romeu? Admittedly I am clutching at straws but if I were making such decisions it would seem logical to not use a player that may be off before or shortly after the kit is released!
Amount Saints fans I'd disagree. All academy players are thought of in such high regard and it would make perfect sense to see one of our own in the new kit. Bertrand isnt a star player like VVD or Mane. Even so I wouldnt use a player so much that was expected to leave soon
I'm sure they did. But if you believe the reports he has wanted out for ages too. Plus, the official photo release wouldn't have been done that many months ago.
Indeed, we have maintained the entire time that he is not for sale. If anything that is evidence for my theory. Just because he talked to Klopp etc doesn't mean he was any closer to leaving than anyone else; we had no intention of accepting a bid.
Saints aren't trying to get the people that buy a kit or shirt every year attention. They are trying to get people that don't to buy one. Bertrand is more recognisable then Prowse.
Fair point. Although I think everyone who buys a kit will recognise both JWP and Bertrand. Also if Bertrand leaves in a week or so it isn't going to do much good.
People who don't know JWP wouldn't know any of the references that really made that video what it was.
City have £300mill available to spend but refuse to spend £70mill on Van Dijk. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...all-news/man-city-transfers-van-dijk-13196271
I still think that Van Dijk will be at City or Chelsea by the start of the season. If they hadn't already spent £50mil on Stones then he'd already be a City player.
VVD will go somewhere like Liverpool, it's how the football food chain works. We sign from big teams in smaller leagues, teams like Liverpool sign from us as they are bigger, then if the player is still good at that level teams like Barca/Real sign from there. There is no point in a team like Barca/Real signing direct from us.
I'd think it better for Jay and us if he moved on so I'm surprised we don't want to sell and that he doesn't want to go. I'd expect Long to go now, last I heard (a while back now) he wanted out. Long and Jrod are too similar and neither enough of a goal threat recently to keep both.
