Slutsky is a very smart man. He spent 6 months in London as Abramovich guest, studying English, which is already remarkably fluent, but also watching Premiership games including Hull City of course. He is already very familiar with our players strengths and weaknesses. There are some players he knew he could not keep, notably Maguire and Robertson. There are several others that he will try to hang on to because they will play a significant role in getting us out of the Championship this coming season or next...such as Clucas, and I would also put Huddlestone, Grosicki, Hernandez, and perhaps Dawson in that category. I would be also be very surprised if he doesn't fight hard to keep Jakupovic, given the disastrous performances of Marshall in the first half of the season, MacGregors past injury problems, and Mannions youth and lack of experience at senior level. It makes absolutely no sense to let the Jak go to Leicester to be Schmeichel's back up for the derisory 2 mill. offered, and I'm sure that Jak would prefer to be playing every week for a Club and a city that he loves. So i hope that Leo can prevail on the Allams to make it financially worthwhile to keep Jak and let Marshall go for whatever they can get.
Agreed - a very smart man. What's more, an incredibly powerful man has recognized that fact - namely Roman Abramovitch. It seems highly probable to me that RA is taking on a mentor role for LS, possibly with a longer term succession planning strategy to make him a future Chelsea manager. There have been strong connections between CSKA Moscow & Abramovitch ( through his old Siebneft company) and his "indirect" support of the Russian National team. No stranger to the presence of LS in that regard. This could be a truly beneficial factor in the short term future of Hull City AFC. Juicy prospects if LS can do well in the next couple of years. If he doesn't, RA can be bloody ruthless, as we have seen over the last 10 years or so. Edit: Also agree with your other comments too.
From a Chelsea Youth Twitter - Amongst the many Chelsea players likely to be linked with a loan move to Hull, Ola Aina is a name to keep an eye on. #CFC For clarity, it's a Twitter account about the Chelsea youth team, not just a youth tweeting from Chelsea.
Quite funny that article, it states we've issued a statement, then basically say the statement isn't true. Stoke have now confirmed their interest in Tymon.
For the amount we'd get for Jak/savings on wages, I just don't see the point, it would be a good signal of intent if we kept hold of him. We can't just bend over and let the squad **** off.
Would be a brilliant start. Abraham and Golovin would just about sort out our attacking options - unless Hernandez/Grosicki leave then we'd need to replace them - then we just need a LB and probably two more CBs after Kalas.
