luvgonzo i dont mind carroll just think he is over hyped and will be dragged down by his hefty price tag, and considering you said what his role is i find it even more alarming such a fee would be paid for that role when target men of his ilk are ten a penny and really cost no more than 8 million. i am sure he will be useful for liverpool, but the price tag will never be justified, and i also think their may be more negative having someone like that in a side aspiring to be at the top of world football, too easy it is to play the long ball as was seen in the 2nd half against sunderland when the defenders worked suarez out.
I don't agree so will leave it at that, you're comment on Suarez is a joke though, he was obviously and understandably tired.
That was me! Just saying that we were linked with numerous world class players with Rafa and i believe we would have got them if the old owners would have stumped up the cash. We were seriously linked with- Silva,Villa and Dani Alves, i believe we bid £9million for Alves but Sevilla wanted £13mill (?) and the cowboys wouldn't stump it up. Its all ifs and buts though unfortunatly
Another thing I noticed is how Aguero came on, Silva's game went up another level ( If that's possible). When you have players who want to play similar styles it bring the best out of them. For us it would be having a mid-field of Lucas, Meireles, and Aqua all on the same wavelength of how they want to play compared to maybe a spearing and adam ( he can play short, but enjoys the longer passes more). There were times in the first half you didn;t recognize Silva was on the field because of how defensive and one-minded City were playing. The minute they started to find Silva, the game changes, he unlocks the other team. other players we wre seriously linked with for Anfield were Simao, Jovetic, Alves was practically a done deal by the way until the cowboys pulled the plug. If Rafa had stayed one more year I really believe we would have got Banega too......what talent he is! And on the cards of a player I don't really see why we spent X amount on would be the Banega - Henderson ( if he is considered a CM). Again, ifs and buts candy and nuts
Yeah, that's why I was advocating signing him before Christmas. Obviously not for £35m but I said maybe a bid of about £15-20m would be reasonable enough and would land him. There was a clip against West Ham on one of the many Andy Carroll compliations aswell where he had a burst of speed past about 3 different West Ham players before smashing a right footed shot just wide against them, I haven't seen anything like that from him yet. Thanks for the links aswell mate, I'm still not sure if he's still carrying an injury, or if this is his bedding in time as he couldn't bed in last season due to injury.
I can just imagine the names Rafa would bring in if he had these owners. Then again, Dalglish is building a home team side, reminiscent of our 80s teams and that is one way to success. Then again, if we had Rafa and this cash, the outcome may well be the same.
mods are you aware that aguero and silva cost 7 million more than henderson & carroll or will this be swept under the carpet in an obvious denial of what you have bought? i quite like both players fees may have been alot but to delete two articles posing a question on no basis other than fear is a tad unfortunate.
They did? Did you know over the next 5 years Aguero will cost City £52m in wages alone, while Carroll will cost us just over £20m. Plus if you add the £5m difference in transfer fee, that makes Aguero £37m more expensive than Andy Carroll over the next 5 years. So I have to say, your £7m figure seems just a little out. Then if you add into the equation Jordan Henderson's price, which was 16m, then calculate his wages over a 5 year period then he would cost us £16m or thereabouts, and that's if his wages is the 60k we were reportedly going to offer him, it could even be lower. So Aguero actually will cost Man City more than Henderson and Carroll combined over the next 5 years.
It doesn't matter what Aguero and Silva cost, we didn't buy them and are happy with what we have bought. I've PM'd you to explain why I deleted your thread.
Silva was brought last summer when Liverpool were owned by a set of pricks who had no money. We couldn't have brought him so that's your Silva argument out the window. I also suspect that Aguero on something near £200,000 a week which 99% of clubs wouldn't pay and I would include Liverpool in that. Barca, Real Madrid and City are probably the three clubs which could afford the lads wages.
the wages issue will be covered mainly with shirt sales globally , hendo and carroll wont sell many shirts, silva and aguero will sell hundreds of thousands if not millions globally to people who have no care for city so in that sense that fees are pretty level i would have said but yea i agree the wages are more but liverpool can pay massive wages jova cole poulsen all on 90k a week and they are 3rd rate, gerrard get in excess of 160k a week.
I understand your shirt theory but you are making it sound like no one will buy Carroll and Hendo shirts, which they will so that will take away from any of their wages and fees, not as much but you can't take one away and not the other. Reason we had Jova, cole, etc for so much was because our numpty owners thought free meant free more than likely and didn;t realize signing on fees, wages and how they add up etc, just like they banked an entire money grabbing mission on a stadium that never came and they failed miserably.
ok i understand that thanks for the message explaining that was very curtious butit really wasnt a wind up i can see whay it was thats why i made it implicit that it wasnt my view and it was just a genuine question just something i saw which thought was an intresting point. i cant say nothing everton have brought in a 17 yo on loan to play in the reserves lol, id happy spend money badly to spend it, i like your buys but the fees are a little extraordinary in my view especially compared to say that of aguero and silva, and wondered if fans were now maybe beginning to think that what was shelled out this summer was vastly over priced, thats not to say that the buys are not good for the club. ure inbox is full sorry
BluffCityRed-La Barba Roja see your point but i mean other than fans if ya get me, you wont go to grece and see many hendo or carroll shirts but silva and aguero u would see alot, maybe greece was a bad example with the current economic climate
I understand your point, word was Real spent 80 mil to get Ronaldo, but practically made it back within 1 week of shirt sales. Still those wages are just too high and something we could not compete with. Why do you think Robinho turned down chelsea to go to City? Those types of figures a week are very persuasive.
If Tevez wasn't in the top 10 shirt sales, and he was Man City's best player the last two seasons, what makes you think they'll sell more shirts with Aguero than Carroll on? Suarez was only here since January and he has already bypassed Tevez in shirt sales.
Raaaul , suarez is picking up where torres left off i dont deny that but as you know globally people are glory hunters, city are now in the cl liverpool are not in europe they will become the team and must have shirt this year as we will see soon enough, people fro all over the world will buy aguero shirts and silva especially now they are in cl 5 years ago who heard of city they will get millions of glory hunting fans soon enough as liverpool and all big clubs have
