I also once said we should go for Marko Marin. Also, I've been harsh on Josh Onomah in the past and questioned what he offers. It's about time me had a central role after those U20 performances. What a waste it's been playing him on the wing. He looks like a different player when utilised in the middle of the park.
In another recycled headline from last summer, Adrien Silva's been linked. Common sense dictates this will in some way complicate any move for Seri...
I read an article suggesting that we are waiting to make a bid for Ross Barkley in the hope that the price will go down. Where's that 'No **** Sherlock' thread?
A lot of reported outbound traffic but not much inbound. This happened in the Dempsey, Dembele transfer window which concerned me. I hope we become positive.
We need to sell to buy, for transfer fees and wages. It's frustrating sometimes. I wonder how many signings we've had lined up and lost out on due to trying to shift someone on first? I hope that it's absolutely necessary. I would have thought that anything you lose on sale values by having a player who has been replaced already and is clearly to be got rid of would be balanced by losses from sellers knowing that we have money in the bank to spend, if we've already sold our 'deadwood'. I know we got Berbatov ahead of United because they needed to sell first and we nipped in because we had some cash. We'll leave Barkley until late as I'm pretty sure he's tapped up and we're waiting for his 'sell by date' reduction as we must be looking at half of their stated £50m. I think that Everton will tell us to **** off and there's a fair chance it will fall through. One of the other Top 6 will pick him up, probably a club from Manchester. Just no more deadline day Sissoko's, ok Daniel?
Huddersfield have just signed a 26 year old bloke they'd taken on loan from Man City for a club record £10m. Ten Million. For a player who hasn't kicked a PL ball in his career.
We're in a weird position in that for probably the first time in our PL history, we have a settled starting XI with no gaping holes that need addressing. The main focus of business this window is surely fending off the vultures and keeping hold of this group of players. We find ourselves in a position where improving on the starting XI will require either a miracle or in excess of £40m, a sum which I cannot see us spending. Shoring up squad depth shouldn't break the bank and - I would like to think - can be implemented without necessarily shifting deadwood first. I can see Sissoko being harder to shift than a skidmark shaped like Adebayor. Njie and Fazio might be easier as we'd be looking at no more than £5-8m for each. By gut feeling is that we will keep GKN and possibly loan him out next season.
A serious money player as you said will probably require some outgoings first, but our usual incomings (the Wanyamas etc) should be ok. I would say more so, given the current glut of PL money floating around. Like the PL campaign, buying players just needs to go that final step. Increased revenues thru on-pitch success to raise the bar on attracting certain players, and on-pitch success helps in attracting said players who could get higher wages elsewhere but are not fully merc.
CK in his defence - Aaron Mooy is his name - and he is the engine room for the Australian team by a considerable mile. City only bought him due to an agreement with the club they own Melbourne City. Never was their intention to keep him I don't think.
News overnight Son has broken his arm playing for South Korea and will probably miss the start of the season.
While I'm sure that most commentators will pronounce his name "Moy" next season, I am going to deliberately call him "Aaron Moo-ey" because it sounds funnier, and because I want to pitch a CGI cartoon to Dreamworks about a cow that plays Premier League football.
"The Argentina international recently had an operation on his left hip and the latest surgery will not affect the overall recovery period." what a load of bollocks http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/lamela-injury-update-170517/ good to hear he'll be back in the squad next season (at some point) though, I guess
