Robertson went in straight away, was a bit disappointed Harry didn't.

It's not as if he was some gangly kid, he'd played over 150 senior games with the blades.

We didn't have much competition at left back but we had loads at centre half. He made a grand total of 42 league appearances for us in 3 years. We certainly stunted his development.

We only had loads because Bruce went out and signed Dawson afterwards. Granted we had McShane, Bruce, Davies and Chester already but we tended to play three at the back, he should have been part of a back three with Davies and Chester with McShane and Bruce as back up.

When did you speak to someone saying that we shouldn't give opportunities to young players?

No, I'm saying that you're the one saying we shouldn't give young players chances. He needed to play every week, if he had continued to do so I reckon he would be a better player than he is today.

I said absolutely nothing of the sort.

Seriously - where did you get that from?

Yes you did. You said if he'd have been thrown in he could have seriously struggled. I.e. don't play him.

Yes I said he could've struggled. That is an absolute world away and a gargantuan leap from 'we shouldn't play young players'.

The best thing Ranieri did and the reason why we won the league is because he didn't change the formula that Pearson, Shakey and Cambiasso came up with during the Great Escape. We won seven out of nine drawing one and losing to Chelsea after being 1-0 up until we lost both Huth and King to injury. That was Champions form and we simply continued it.

His biggest mistake this season was changing that winning formula and it cost him his job. Really this isn't a difficult job because the team essentially picks itself. The players know what they're doing, they're incredibly consistent and just know how to win and grind out games when not playing well. Individually they're limited but as a team they're a well oiled machine and one of the most difficult teams in the league to play against, which is why we've been so successful.

Shakey will do very well because he's a lot more tactically astute than anyone gives him credit for, he changed things against Athletico to nullify Griezmann and it worked a treat. From the first half in the first leg he had very little influence while we caused them huge problems.

He knows how to get the best out of them and he's going to have a quality squad next season so I think people will start to see its not about the manager, it's about the players being played to their strengths because Pearson, Ranieri and Shakey have all got similar win rates by playing the same style, it's no coincidence.

So yeah I agree, he got lucky.

Yeah I'm a ****er for having an opinion and then questioning when someone incorrectly refers to it.

It doesn't matter though does it because it's not my money and the club can obviously afford it. I'm sure they've offered him that much now because they believe he'll prove he's worth it. I think they're doing that and showing faith in him rather than giving him a pay rise if he earns it. I can't see his wages increasing too much between now and the end of his contract.

It really is. I never thought we shouldn't play young players, never mind said it. I also never said we should always play young players, as that would be ridiculous. I trust the manger to know when a young player is ready.

If he's saying Maguire was too raw to play for us when we signed him he's an idiot.
