In general beinng taller helps genuinely but you have to balance attributes

Then look at forester. Tall but poor on low shors and slow and useless on ground

Lets not forget decision making and seeing the flight of the ball. Obviously being a keeper is just more than being tall as the biggest person would just go in goal. Also commanding the area is just 1 aspect of keeping.

Calamity James was also dumb, made awful decisions and had suspect handling. If he wasn't tall he'd be even worse at catching the ball.

I think it's pretty obvious that being tall will give you an advantage over not being tall (bearing in mind you have all the other attributes to dominate your box) but no point arguing around and around the same point
