Great tale Yorkie, You are quite right about a different attitude, especially in the rural areas. I have also been lucky in finding some abandoned gravel when doing my shed. This particular heap was left for general use to put down in the green lane when it becomes pitted by agricultural machinery and then fills with water. It is a case of help yourself if you have a need. ;)

In the same way heaps of sand are left sitting on polythene bags at roadsides during winter in case the hills become slippery. One doesn't wait for someone to come round, you take your spade and scatter it.

Talking of winter, just seen some pictures of the NZ snow. It must be bad if it gets on the BBC.

Righty oh, lunch break over and back to my forge restoration project. The method of working that was on an expermential basis a few days ago seems to be fine, so now the long slog really begins.

Non what so ever, it will be first time she will have seen her daughter and grandaughter since she went to Paris. I am resigned to the fact I won't see the 'Orns for a while, still hoping to get to the League Cup game at BR as I am on days that day:) But my first visit to the Vic won't be until Oct <yikes> Still must go the Dental Hyggenist is calling :(

I just wonder if it was the same delivery outfit that brought mine. Exactly the same problem and result despite me filling in a form about access and receiving a phone call to check that what I told them was correct. The driver needed to re-fuel his fork lift he said, and the required amount just about equated to the cost of his dinner. Still he was helpful and I didn't begrudge him his dinner. ;)

Well I managed to keep going on my project for several hours, but it really is too hot for climbing up and down ladders. Mme was very kind and brought me some little green bottles with very cold liquid inside. Working on an old industrial building is not the way to keep clean and when it is this hot the muck sticks to you.

Just checked up on the Bordeaux supply. Looks as if there could be enough to get me through the match, unless it is very tense. Pity that the original vintage is no longer available. It was very lucky for the team while I had it, unfortunately someone drank it all. <yikes>

Evening all- been preoccupied lately but back in time for tonight.

Yorkie and OFH, ever read Graham Robb's 'The Discovery of France'? Highly recommended.
I'm re-reading it at the moment, and looking forward to the day when we can get away to la France profonde for a bit. Yorkie's story kind of connected.

GG, no I haven't read that one, but many others. If you want a chuckle about trying to do up old buildings in France there are a series of books written by George East, a man who seems to have been very unsuccessful in his efforts. I suspect however that some of it is slightly coloured to make a good story better.

Evening all just got back from a lovely few days with my parents:) Yorkie that was a great tale , and in the remote part of the North East Highlands, where my folk live , they are all like that ! every one pitching in to help one another! I was extremely impressed! when the jobs done people settle back for a whiskey and a chat:)
Going back to Aberdeen was fun , found every slow driver going even slower and a JCB on the back of a lorry trying to get under a low bridge and taking a bit of bridge with it<yikes> There was a bit of a hold up there ! Got to the airport to check in and was told my ticket had been cancelled! Oh no says ! Oh yes say they<yikes>
anyway we managed to sort that out , then the plane was delayed !
Then get home and see last months pay chit! Feel much happier now!:)
Is anyone behind the bar , I would love a malt whisky , preferably Aberlour if we have any:)

I see James Murdoch might have been economical with the truth in front of a Parliamentary Committee - obviously not quite as humbled as his dear Pater .

Oh dear, it is a polymorphic virus consisting of multiple files, which means it is constantly changing to avoid detection and removal. It's a little bugger like most of them.

Do a computer scan and that should get rid
