You said does being tall really help, you didn't ask for examples of poor tall keepers or good 'shorter' ones. You don't have to be tall to be a good keeper there's loads of good short keepers but ... 'does it help'

A good goalkeeper is made up of 4 elements:

- Shot stopping
- Aerial presence
- Decision Making
- latterly ball playing ability (well this is the only 1 you care about if you're Pep).

Heights doesnt affect 3 of those. Catching a ball above everyone else when the ball is high in the air is helped if you are taller and can jump higher (also if you are stronger so you're not affected by someone bumping into you).

No surprises that Bravo and Vorm are the shortest PL keepers at 6ft and flap everywhere.

The vast majority of keepers are tall for a very good reason. The fact that there are a few good 'short' keepers doesn't negate the need for a keeper to be as tall as possible to be as effective as he possibly can be. But you know all this ...

 

Would be interesting to see how much he could go for, he is surely looking at United, Liverpool or Arsenal as a move.

I meant to pick up on this earlier when you mentioned Casillas. One of his little known attributes is his arm span. A person's arm span is roughly equally to their height, Casillas' is several inches greater than his height. Remember the talk about swimmer Michael Phelps and why he has been so successful? The same contributory factor - arm span.
