It might not please everyone, not sure it pleases me tbh, but if the £25m covers the outstanding bank debt, leaving just Short to be paid off, it must make us a more attractive option to help us become more saleable in the short term. And that's what I think most of us DO want! Just as long as new owners bring a healthy transfer pot with them.
Does this sale make our efforts in attracting a new manager easier of harder? Will Vito be happy to stay as a championship keeper? Lots more questions but we need some answers , come on Short & Bain get the fans in the loop, where is our new manager.
Weird as we're getting 25m up front according to reports. Think it's actually 30m including add ons. the other 5m to come with appearances.
Bang go's my ****ing bet then. So much for the Arsenal tip off. Wait till I see that old **** down the bar this afternoon.
A Liverpool Echo reporter has tweeted that it's £18m plus £12m in add ons Not sure about the lad tbh, but I've only seen him in the flesh once I think
With the greatest respect, but that is an absolute fortune for a player who has a single PL season under his belt, for the team that finished bottom of the pile.
He's bang on, remember he's only part developed, You'll have to do the rest of that so if he doesn't improve don't blame us . You won't be sorry, he'll create more chances than some of your midfielders and he has the reflexes of a cat. Commands his area well but be aware that due to his height being relatively short for a keeper he does punch a lot but he usually punches well. He will make mistakes but that comes with a developing keeper. Think you'll love him personally.
Great shot stopper and excellent distribution. He's error prone, but he's also very young for a goalkeeper and will shake that off, I have no doubt about it.
Pleased we've gone for youth again, we had 4 starters in the England U20 winning side at the weekend and we won PL2 last season so it bodes well.
Selling the crown jewels, is easy, I will judge Bain when I see who comes in, the days of 10m+ for s***e like Rodders, Jonners are Fletch are what led to this situation, Shorts been an unlucky gambler, with poor judgement at board level, we cant really know what his intentions were initially, but they are obvious now, its a great shame really, as I still do not think he saw this coming . What a difference a year makes, lets hope we see an up-turn, we must be due one soon. Nil Desperandum.
I guess prices are just getting crazier year on year. He was very, very impressive last season - probably the only positive thing about an otherwise thoroughly depressing season. But for that price, you'd expect a few more seasons under the belt playing at a higher level. Currently, all we know about the lad is that he conceded 69 goals in 38 games, but that could've been far more were it not for his performances. A team like Everton will require their keeper to concede no more than half of that in a season. True, he'll have a better defence playing in front of him, but then again Koeman's team press high up the pitch and don't sit back nearly as much as Moyes teams do - so he'll have less protection. Either way, if the money is all up-front you've made a very tidy profit. Just hope your tepid manager can invest it wisely. Wishing you all the best for next season. I've always enjoyed trips to the SOL - excellent group of fans
Bottom line is that we are in debt, a lot of debt, it doesn't really matter so much who the debt is with either, it isn't going away and needs to be paid regardless of who it is to. I'll be gutted if we do sell players of Pickford's quality, they are the future of the club and we should hold on to them. That said, it's pretty obvious we need to downsize this debt and £30m is a good price for any keeper.
