However, everything breaks down at the start, because (as we have already established) there is no logical link between "spuds" and "Spurs." It's complete nonsense!

Pixie is trying to be clever by working off the "roasted" double-meaning angle (as you have explained), but since there is no logical connection between "spuds" and "Spurs," his analogy merely ends up looking incredibly foolish.
