It appears I'm not a million miles off in my suggestion for how the Tories lost Kensington: the Tory MP for the constituency, Lady Victoria Borwick, is a lobbyist for the antiques industry who repeatedly rallied against any proposals to ban the ivory trade, going so far as to claim it was "cultural vandalism" to do so in a Commons debate.

While Cameron had a pledge in his 2015 manifesto banning sales of ivory from any elephant killed after 1947 (meaning that, if you shot and killed an elephant for its ivory on December 31st 1946, it was an "antique" by way of antigque industry-appeasing loophole) the Dire Leader's manifesto ditched all bans on the ivory trade - which was good news for Borwick...right up until she learned she'd been voted out of her constituency not once but twice.

I am sure we would be happy to lift the hunting ban on Tories although the demand is likely to be low as mouth odour is not very popular.

I would like to thank the young people of the UK for their participation. If they stay true to their principles Great Britain will become a far better place split into it's component parts and outward looking. The movement away from Thatcher and neo liberalism has begun. I would also like to thank Trump and May for their assistance in this process, albeit unwittingly on their part.

The Tories' policies support the rich and help them maintain their wealth. There are few opportunities for the young to get a foot on the ladder re decent jobs, housing, savings etc - and austerity affects them detrimentally too as much, if not more, than any other group.
I'm glad they've woken up from their self absorbed, duck pouting, selfie taking slumbers and voted against a government that does nothing for them.

It does nothing for the majority of people, and in order to stay in power needs the majority of people not to realise this!

I agree with you but I would like them to go for a European Conservative to lead them back into the European Mainstream of Conservatism and to ........ quietly drop the Brexit bollox.

Add the undermining of the NI peace process to the increasingly long list of Tory ****ups.

It's right what everyone says, how can SF regard the British Government as neutral in the process when they rely on the DUP for their very existence!

    Some quick numbers:

Number of MPs is 650, but
Effective number of MPs 642 because the 7 SF don't take their seats and the Speaker does not vote
So number of MPs for effective majority 322
    Number of Tories 318
    Number of DUP 10
So it would need a loss of 7 MPs from either party to reduce the Government, which is not entirely unlikely to by-election losses over the course of a parliament I suppose. On the other hand, if SF turned up the majority needed increases to 326, so only 2 MPs would need to lose. Of course the SF have never turned up to Westminster as it would be "legitimising" NI as part of the UK, however what if they could bring down the Government (which includes the hated DUP)?

Osborne not in any way sticking the knife in.... <laugh>
Pity the phrase came from such an odious character, but no doubt it will stick, will be recycled ad infinitum by Mays opponents and likely hasten her departure. :emoticon-0148-yes:

So it turns out that the Dire Leader's talk of having an alliance in place with the DUP has hit a minor snag: there is nothing in place, but the clattering moron forgot to mention that when rushing off to Buckingham Palace on Friday to claim she had formed a government that would allow her to cling on to power.

Wouldn't it be great if she had to go crawling back there for a royal browbeating?

Has anyone pointed out to the Tory voters polluting the internet that they did not "win" the election by any stretch of the imagination? Because they seem to be having a lot of trouble grasping this simple concept.

First you have Trump ringing you at all times of the day to have all manner of bizarre and uncomfortable conversations, and then when you don't answer his calls he flies so far off the handle that he becomes the handle of something completely different in somebody else's house.

In other words he's gone from Leader of the Free World to Leader of Pittsburgh to Psycho Hose Beast Ex-Girlfriend in less than six months.

    And the result ??
Call the Tory MP base either "backers" / "saboteurs" (B/S) of whatever
citizen May claims she wants to do as PM.

So what is the total number of B/S MPs that :

    1. Were serving MPs, but have now either stood down or have been
    voted out

    2. Are new MPs, taking over from serving MPs or have won opposition
    seats

I bet the numbers did not even stack up on paper decisively in favour of B
unless there was a serious Labour voter collapse. A collapse that even if
possible up to some point before June 8, was emphatically lessened by
    her personally.

You could make a fortune selling systems that using CLI together with
a database of Trump "numbers" , immediately play the following message
before connecting to the other end :

This conversation will be recorded for "quality" purposes.

Proving that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree that can't take ten seconds to Google anything, Ivanka Trump appeared on Fox & Friends to describe Judaism as one of the world's three largest religions.
