Do you have a life or do you live through oneliners? If so ... how do your family cope?

You completely skirt the issues raised

My family think I'm wonderful naturally. Unlike you I would rather use ten words instead of fifty. You must have very little going on in your life.

The predicted anti Brexit surge in the recent election failed to happen, all of those political parties, Lib Dems, SNP and the Greens reduced their respective share of the 2015 votes. The country clearly has no time for talk of another vote or blocking Brexit. The two main parties that endorsed Brexit received a massive 82.4% of the vote, it could not be any clearer that the UK wants Brexit.

What utterly perverse logic.... pretty much 60% of all MPs voted remain, no major party but UKIP actually endorsed BREXIT... and now all opposition parties including DUP will be pushing for a much softer BREXIT with transparency in the negotiations...

The EU have clearly stated a 'soft' Brexit is not on the table. There is so much rubbish talked about this.

I missed that statement - when did they say that? I understood the EU wants a deal that is good for them and us. The only thing I have heard is that they have said whatever deal we get, by definition almost, is worse than we chucked in the bin by voting brexit. So we cannot get the EU deal back but maybe we can at least now have one that is not toxic. Hurray for TM - she has taken hard brexit off the table by her rash dash for election glory.

A soft Brexit simply means damage limitation, and leaving negotiations still on speaking terms with our partners. In terms of the 'soft Brexit' which some people have in mind ie. free access to markets without free movement - that is not on the table. The idea of soft Brexit is more along the lines of a Norway or Switzerland type solution - which obviously raises the question 'was it worth it' ?

When did this 60% of MP's vote to remain? A majority of MP's voted to allow the referendum and a majority of MP's voted to trigger Article 50 - so when did this other vote happen? I must have missed it.

Somebody this morning mentioned the Ukraine solution - anyone know what that is? ( I presume it is what is trying to be negotiated as they are not in the EU)

Could it be that 60% of MPs in the referendum voted remain - as individuals? That would not surprise me - half the Tories and most of Labour and the others except UKIP

It was made clear to Cameron when he went to the EU before the referendum that all of the 4 freedoms had to adhered to to remain a member of the EU. It has also been stated many times by their numerous 'crats when they pipe up on the media. So you cannot freedom of access to the single market without freedom of movement of people. So in that sense there is no soft Brexit, only a deal like Norway or Switzerland have. But the stopping of uncontrolled economic migration was one of the core objectives of Brexit, so unless a different type of arrangement can be had, there is no alternative but a hard Brexit.

How would anyone know, it's supposed to be a secret. I cannot see 100% of MP's revealing how they voted, can you?
There must have been another vote that happened when I was on holiday. After all, if it's stated on here it must be true.

I agree - the four freedoms rule does not seem to be up for negotiation. Funny isn't it that the EU is allowed to be inflexible but the UK is not apparently.
However in order to get a trade deal which the EU must want rather than heavy tariffs they will probably be able to come up with one of their fudges that gives the UK trade, tariff and customs deals but short of the full access that would invoke their 4 freedoms.

I am only guessing of course. I think most MPs declared their preference on the referendum so those that could be bothered probably added it up. Funnily enough I had read somewhere last year - probably before the actual referendum - that about 75% supported remain. Who really cares - their vote was equal to each of ours - the only time their vote is "special" is in Parliament when the vast majority did what they were told
