It's hard to believe that there's someone out there, working for Adidas, who is actually being paid for designing shirts that are far uglier than something any random bloke off the street could manage. I can live with the thin stripes but the red back screams of insanity.

For the Safc contract it's about the £££££ though

As a post above said, they have their showpiece shirts where they will push the adidas brand - Man Utd and Bayern Munich

I know but come on, just because it falls short of the elite package doesn't mean it has to be designed by a short sighted, colour blind and aggressively unartistic chimp does it? I would expect Adidas to have some basic ability to design something a human being would want to wear.

No mate. We are easy money.
The shirts are purchased coz that's what people do

Why make it look nicer by sticking a collar and buttons (for example) on it. It just adds to their cost.

I'll be surprised if this shirt sells well. If it was just a case of taking the easy route then why mess with it at all? Just stick with the standard stripes on front and back and call it a day. The fact they've tried thin stripes and a solid back suggests there's someone, however misguided and possibly blind, putting effort in.

Bri said we're not part of the elite so we just get handed a strip. No reason to dispute that if it's true.

But it just sounds really bloody wierd if that's the contract we've sign up to, along with other clubs.

How can we all just be handed a strip and have no input?

We could have objected on the grounds that the stripes aren't traditionally that thin. Don't know if we did or not.

My boy reckons it's Football League law that you can't have stripes on the back.
I dunno if that's true but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
Hence Newcastle having blacked out backs last season.
****ing ****ers. I hope they all get pox, syphilis, clap & clymidia. <ok>

Makes sense, stripes on your back are fine if you're playing Chelsea but if you're lining up against Brentford then what the **** are you doing? Get those stripes off there immediately because.......?

Not saying your boy is wrong just baffled about the logic of it.

Well, like I say, I don't know but he showed me on his phone & it's all over social media.
My lad just lets things ride if he thinks it's bullshit
He only mentions it if it is genuine.

I actually like the sleeves for some weird reason. Think the Adidas stripes look stupid, think the front looks horrid, will refrain from judging the back until numbers and letters are added.

4/10

More to the point who will be inside the shirts thats more important than the style and design crap, its football not a poxy fashion parade.

Last Adidas kit for an non elite club to be designed with club input was this for Sheff United.

And that's because it was an anniversary addition. Clubs that aren't part of the elite simply get issued their kits, Adidas are legally obliged to uphold the traditions of the home kits but have 100% control of away kits. Our kit is red and white stripes so Adidas have upheld their part.
Rambling reply:
I've just seen the strip in the Sunderland shop in galleries at Washington - not as bad as the photoshots but honestly still horrific, worse when looking at the solid red back panel.
I suppose shop could diversify - sell in 3's with a some wood - a deck chair DIY kit.
Its worthy of a lower league team ... :emoticon-0112-wonde -mmhh we are atm - leaderless and in a financial mess -we need this sorting quickly.
If we do not come straight back up in an organised and stronger state we will probably become financially entrenched in the feeder leagues (eg Leeds,Wolves Sheff clubs etc) - multinational TV and sponsors money is ruining the game.
We need a manager who connects with the club first such as SKP - late coming in to the game as a player so will have the drive and determination (and class) to overcome the problems he'll face as our manager and he'll have our backing imo.
Pearson has links to the dark ones and smoggies and the press will bring this up when the going gets tough, which it will, it'll be disastrous a la Steve Bruce style.
I'm signing off now before I enter another ramble - I'm really frustrated and :emoticon-0121-angry
