Only one game played but its just a feeling, just a niggle working away inside, could this be the season?

No I don’t mean the season we win the title, break into the top 6, none of that, just a very good season.

I’m a big one for signs, omens and that sort of thing. A new team with some very good solid players, the sort you feel will not let you down. World beaters, well maybe not but solid, reliable, calm, committed, winners, all those words fit what we have, IMO.

Add in the Gyan, Sess class and the Ji, Wickham unknown and things are looking good, I still think we have at least one more to come.

Even our board looks brighter, cleaner, modern and exciting, more signs and omens.

A season that brings a top ten finish without any last day drama, A good convincing performance against Newcastle and a home win and a good cup run or indeed 2 good cup runs.

Achieve that and I will be happy, could this be the year, Saturday will begin to provide the answer.

Right I am going to say it and I am going to get laughed at but....

I think Bruce will sign 2 more players and we will finish 6th. Call me deluded, call me crazy but I can see what Bruce is doing. We passed the ball extremely well against Liverpool, I think it will be a good season for us.

    Man Utd
    Man City
    Arsenal
    Chelsea
    Tottenham
    Liverpool
    Everton

    (not in that order)

    So, no.

I think Sunderland will have a good season. It's a better overall squad than last season. I'm afraid there's still a big gap between the quality of your starting 11 and the quality of those first 6 teams though, possibly including Everton. A big gap.

You passed the ball well, but you didn't even win the match, so I'm surprised you can be so optimistic. Let's have a sense of realism here.

Neither did Liverpool so they need to be removed.

Unless they're two world class £30mill players, then you won't, because I genuinely think that's what's needed to break into the top 6 past Spurs and Liverpool.

Its just a pity he has to spend so much time on ours and very little on his. Hopefully come the week-end we may be missing him for some time while he licks his wounds. We are due, sorry well over due a victory.:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Well, I cant see Everton doing it again, yes they seem to be up there every season, but the bubble has to burst soon, they are not that good.

Liverpool are too inconsistent, but i do see them above us.

Spurs, not a clue they havnt bought anyone "yet" and if Modric does go, they may not be the force many think them to be, I still think they will finish above us, but maybe below Liverpool.

I think we can match Everton and Villa and a couple of seasons ago they were the yardsticks for us to catch, and I think we can, or at least I cant see why not.

We need to pick up points against the lesser clubs though, too many times we get a great result against a top team, only to blow it the week after.

I thought last season would be our season and it was till february. If we win our home games and be hard to beat away then the sky is the limit for meTeams like everton villa and fulham are their to be overtaken.

Everton are often underestimated because they don't have 'star' players. However, the players they do have are bloody good. Their defence is rock solid and they have players who could comfortably play for any top 5 side. Players like Baines, Jagielka, Arteta, Cahil, Fellaini and so on are real quality. I do think their position in the league fairly reflects their quality. They're better than anyone below them, including Sunderland and Newcastle.

I mean you guys are entitled to think what you like, but I struggle to see where such huge optimism is coming from. Enjoy it though, I guess.
