I think you need to learn the difference between a collective whole and an individual. Everyone has their own opinions, personally I always wanted us to buy Aguero, but I was happy when we bought Carroll. He is a good player, and given some time he will improve drastically, he's even admitted he will live up to his price tag, so he knows he's not quite doing that at the moment. There are just a few things he has to sort out before he does.
There is no doubt that Aguero is 10x the player Andy is and ever will be. And there is no doubt that I rather have Aguero over him. However, it's not as simple as 'pay £3m more and we've got him'. You have to remember that Andy will cost £50k in wages whereas Aguero is more in the region of £200k. These are the additional costs that most fans don't think of when buying a player. Not only that, we couldn't offer Champions League football either. Enticing World Class players is difficult as it is without these additional factors. However, I do share the same concerns about Carroll. Technically, I don't think he's good enough. He lacks good control, technique and movement. It's as if he expects the ball on his head all the time. I rather have Kuyt upfront than Carroll for the time being but I don't see it happening as Kenny is building the team around AC.
Not sure to be honest. Maybe he was on the radar but the owners wouldn't fork out? Whoever said it no doubt come back and answer
He was mentioned a lot as a transfer rumour at the time but that's all it was. We will never know if Rafa wanted to sign him unless he comes out and says so.
luvgonzo so its just gosspi from years gone by, like the 70 odd players u have been lnked with this summer ;0 aguero being one
You foolish foolish individual! Just shows how juvenile your comments always are. One day you will learn that valued judegements are not kneejerk. Aguero has palyed half a match against a tireing essentially Championship team.
Foredeckdave agree with your points their but he is a quality player no doubt about that, and made a storming impact could of had 3 by the time he scored his first. he will be deadly this season
luvgonzo they are both forwards who score and create goals, just because ageuro can run and dribble and carroll can only hold the ball up from a long ball doesnt mean they cannot be compared, they are both forwards in essence what they are required to do is the same, if it was a defender and striker being compared then so be it but come on thats loose that.
If a team was looking for a tricky forward who creates and scores do you think they would look at Carroll? Carroll is a target man strong in the air and good at holding the play up and linking the midfield. Aguero is in the mold of Suarez and Tevez. We all know who is the better player overall but try asking Aguero to play as a target man. Liverpool are looking for a combination Carroll Suarez, Man City maybe the same Dzeko Agureo.
luvgonzo in that case why would the club spend a british transfer and club record on nothing more than a john carew, peter crouch, kenwyn jones player that is completely farsical, ive seen loads of comments on here saying hes great technically, and will score 25+ a season, in my eyes if your a striker your a striker, they all have the same job score and create, they may have different attributes to get the job done but essentiall their task is the same no?
