I do not know if you are Manchester based but there was an energy in Manchester around 1989/90 that emanated from the Hacienda and then eventually spread across the UK - Britpop and the Rave scene.
Born in Bradford (the one who's pit City's ground will one day fall into, not the one in Yorkshire), 10 min walk from the city centre.
Have never lived more than 5 miles from said centre.

Love Bradford! Not a beautiful city but had a "romantic evening" there many years ago when I took a lady friend there to see a game and rather than take the train back to Liverpool decided to explore the city instead. Those were the days when I could pull!!

The Bradford I speak of is not a city, it's a small suburb of Manchester nestled between Droylesden (Clayton which was even smaller), Beswick and Gorton.
It was my world for the first 10 years of my life.

I did not know that!! Presumptions that one makes. Did you know that there is a place called Portsmouth, not on the South Coast, but nestled on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border in the vicinity of Burnley?

we, as a society, have effectively splurged $3tn over the odds into bricks and mortor. My two-bedroom semi in York is valued at £200k - ****ing ridiculous. No it's not, an d for Christ sakes, a three bedroom semi in the south of England is NOT worth a friggin million quid -, how did this happen? No wonder people can not afford to pay a fair proportion of tax -there's people on 70k, a bloody good wage, who are petrified to pay 50% tax, but they , (ME!) damn well should do, For ffs, our national effort is going into some La La land of bricks and lawns

Put up general taxation and invest in our kids, not middle-aged squealling over interest rates.

It's a ****ing con that screws our kids - I'm so angry. We owe trillions as a nation , to... what? Think about it, for Christ's sake - we've been utterly conned, and our kids pick up the tab of every pound that could have been invested in the future that is splurged on a ludicrously inflated property market. This has to stop.

PS, I'm not drinking but I am still on post-operative medication. :emoticon-0117-talki
