It seems 40mil is nothing this window, it's officially gone batshit crazy.

Looks like Morata is going to Utd for 65mil (ish) and he's only a sub for them!!

What are you thinking, 10s, 100s, or maybe even 1000s of pounds?

I'll offer a charity bet with an over-under at £50m net and £1 for each £1m difference

e.g. Liverpool repeat last season's -£7m net spend and I give £57 to charity, £100m net spend and my opponent gives £50 to charity

@Stan think he can win this year?

You may actually have to spend that much this year as you are running out of players to sell. FSG will be so angry

Like I said, you may actually have to spend £50m this year to improve/maintain your squad.

That's not too bad compared to spending £400m just to stand still ...like some other clubs do <whistle>

the current state of the market means that value of money is just a pipe dream. VFM is directly related to the club's finances and the team's need. If we have the millions and desperately in need of a CB to reinforce our first team then £50m or £60m is not a high price to pay for VVD . If we were Bournemouth and trying to balance the books then spending the same money for VVD would be like the emperor of that tiny kingdom spending £200m on building his latest palace when the GDP is £900m.

Identify the players we need and buy them (if we can afford them). Forget about VFM. The alternative is to remain also rans and go on a steady and relentless decline like Wenger.

Liverpool transfer news: Details revealed on Virgil Van Dijk’s actions in botched move
VIRGIL VAN DIJK reportedly took part in detailed talks with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp before interest spectacularly ended in the Southampton star, according to reports
Van Dijk, 25, was heavily linked with a move to Anfield with Klopp keen to bolster his defensive ranks as he bids to build a squad capable of mounting a Premier League title challenge and competing in the Champions League.

However, interest in the Southampton star turned sour with the transfer saga ending in embarrassment for Liverpool.

The Reds were accused of illegally approaching the Dutch international, which angered Southampton.
This led to Liverpool publicly ending their interest in the centre-back and apologising to Saints.
However, Yahoo Sport have revealed the details surrounding Van Dijk’s involvement in the transfer saga.
It s said the former Celtic man staged one-to-one talks with Liverpool and Klopp
Virgil van Dijk took part in detailed talks with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp before the botched transfer.
He apparently received video messages detailing how he would be used in the Reds team.

Yahoo Sport also outline that personal terms over a move to Anfield were already agreed.

And the player has now begun to force a way out of Southampton despite having five years left on his contract.

Yahoo Sport go onto say talks over a deal for Van Dijk to leave St Mary’s have been ongoing for several months with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea all involved in negotiations.

But it is suggested Van Dijk’s agent is eager to push for a move to Anfield as that will apparently secure him the biggest personal pay-off.

Saints are determined to keep hold of the defender, but a source credited by Yahoo Sport claims every player has a price.
“The club had to take a stand this week as we have been aware of what has been going on for months and it has gone too far,” the source claimed.

“Southampton have told the player that we don’t want to sell him this summer, but he thought he could kick up a big enough fuss that he would be sold for £50m.

“That is never happening and by holding talks with the player, sending him video clips of how he will fit into their team and doing this all without the permission of Southampton, there is no way he will be sold to Liverpool at this stage.

“Of course, every player has a price and if £100m or something close is put on the table, then it will be considered, but Southampton do not need to sell van Dijk this summer.”

Van Dijk is yet to make any public comment on his alleged involvement in the botched transfer.

Think you are spot on there - it will be very difficult to keep up though without spending the big money - not impossible - just difficult

I would still only loan him out to Huddersfield. Keep ownership of our assets

With Mingolet and Karius both being young I wouldn't bother keeping him. He's too good to be 3rd choice so will just go on loan until his contract finished. I'd say he's worth £3M to a PL team so I'd cash in.

Yeah I'd loan him out. A good year with them in Prem and his value could rise a lot or be a good option to come back and challenge in our team.
